ELIZAVETA (2022)
Catherine I of Russia and Elizabeth I of Russia in ELIZAVETA (2022)
Sir, who are you looking at? Milady, I’m only looking at you!
“Elizaveta” 1x01
(...) Just at this time, Liza had a new lover - Guard Sergeant Alyosha Shubin. I must say that all of Elizabeth's men to whom she gave her love were handsome. She herself was beautiful, and she chose her gentlemen to match. So, Alyoshka Shubin was beautiful to the point of impossibility, and the crown princess fell head over heels in love with him. He reciprocated her, so much so that he almost staged a palace coup in her favor!
And Alyosha paid, thank God, not with his head. Anna Ivanovna first exiled him to Revel, where she put him in stone bag , in which it was impossible to sit or stand. Then, in 1732, a decree followed to send him to Siberia, and not just anywhere, but to the godforsaken Kamchatka. And she dealt with him in the most cruel way - since he dreamed of marrying the beautiful Elizabeth, then let him marry an ugly Kamchad woman! There was nothing to be done, and Shubin got married.
The inconsolable Lizaveta experienced this love drama for a long time and even composed sad songs on this topic. They have survived to our time, and they contain the following words: "It would be easier for you not to be noble than to suffer so much ..." Alyoshka Shubin was undoubtedly one of her favorite favorites.
Shubin's exile continued for almost ten years, until the Empress Anna Ivanovna died. With her there was nothing to think about the release of Alexei from the Kamchatka wilderness. When Anna Leopoldovna became the ruler, Elizabeth rushed to look for Shubin. Anna Leopoldovna, by the way, knowing firsthand what separation from her beloved was, helped Elizabeth as much as she could. First of all, she turned to Biron, and he issued a corresponding decree on the search for the exiled Shubin. But the trouble is - no one for a long time did not know where he was exiled! It seems that he was such an exile, but where he got to is unknown; maybe already dead. The second decree on the search for the beloved Elizavetiny Aleshenka was signed by Anna Leopoldovna herself. The success was the same - zero. And only when Field Marshal Minich got down to business, the matter got off the ground - he was found somewhere in Kamchatka. Shubin had to travel 15 thousand versts to get to Petersburg.
In general, by the time Shubin arrived in the capital, Elizabeth had already become an empress. He was affectionately greeted by Elizabeth, but he was already a different person - wild and nervous, although he retained traces of his former beauty on his face.
Liza promoted him to major in the Semenovsky regiment and major general in the army for "innocent suffering." But, most importantly, the place of the favorite was already taken by Alexei Razumovsky (we will talk about him later). Quickly realizing that he had nothing to do at court now, he, being awarded the Order of Alexander Nevsky, left for the estates granted to him in the Nizhny Novgorod province and never returned to the capital. Alexei Shubin died in 1765, having outlived Elizabeth by four years. (x)
