mcu jean grey somehow multiverse hopping and ending up where el hopper is
el sees this girl who looks EXACTLY like max, delighted at first to see her only to pause—how could max find her? why is her hair flatter? why does she dress so differently? why is she in her hea- what?
meanwhile, jean grey is looking at this girl, not knowing where she is and TRIES to get into el's mind only to be met inside the void and pushed immediately back out
El is near tears, having just been lashed by the sudden intrusion in her head. Is this some cruel joke? Creel coming back to haunt her?
"Max, it's me-"
'Max' takes a step back, hand out in front of her as if it'll shield either of them.
"Why can't I...who the hell is Max?? Who the hell are you???"
just two girls who were treated the same by people who claim to fight for the good of humanity, as if they aren't part of it just because they're different
two girls whose sisters were ripped from them because of the ability they shared
except one was given a chance, and the other is alone in this cold little town with nobody, just like jean was after she left the system
and so jean grey, with all her brokenness yet to be fixed, tries to help el
and el hopper, who had to leave her family, her friends, her life, is finally given a second chance with this girl who may not be her, but who's close enough
