Hello Hazel! First of all, I want to tell you how very much I enjoy and appreciate your daily rec posts. I have found many wonderful fics through them--and even though this has had terrible consequences for my already massive TBR--I want to thank you so much for continuously sharing your favorites with us!

One author I found through you is Ellessey. I've been steadily making my way through all of her Stucky fics (not yet done) and what a DELIGHTFUL journey it has been! So I want to recommend 'Paper Tree'. It's a pre-war Christmas story, and it is so beautiful, and emotional, and romantic--it will make your heart explode!

(I'm guessing you've probably already read this one, but I wanted to take the opportunity to publicly declare my love for this fic!)

Thank you so much for your lovely words! I'm so glad you're enjoying the recs (also glad I'm not just shouting them into the void!). Sorry about the enormous to read list, except I'm not at all sorry. Mine is gargantuan, but it's very comforting knowing that all these stories are there waiting for me.

Ellessey's stories are wonderful, and I have read Paper Tree (in fact, I side-eyed it not long ago and debated reccing it, but didn't because it wasn't that long since I recced All Those Little Pieces). It is so sweet and fluffy and sincere.

Caring for plants and seeing them grow can be immensely gratifying and therapeutic. Below are my Top 5 Favorite stories:

“To Believe in Tomorrow” (T, 3k) by seapigeon

Bucky's mornings at the community garden get a little more interesting when the new guy shows up.

“Into the Sky” (T, 3k) by Ellessey

"Maybe they were just duds," Steve says, his thumb moving gently over Bucky's hand. "We can get some more."

They were magic beans, that's what the package called them. They were supposed to sprout within a week. They were intended for ages five to ninety-five.

Maybe Bucky's just too goddamn old.

Bucky has precious little patience with himself (and even less for his horticultural endeavors), but Steve has more than enough to go around.

"A Seed Once Sown Never Dies” (T, 2k) by attackofthezee (noxlunate)

“Do you need backup?”

“No, I need my aunt’s superhero war boyfriend to stop calling me in the middle of missions.” Sharon says, but it’s a little more fond than when Nat says similar things so Steve thinks he can get away with it. “I don’t know what to tell you Steve. Get a pet? Wait, no, don’t get a pet. God no, please don’t do that. Get a plant. A couple plants.”

“A plant?” Steve says, feeling strangely confused by the suggestion.

“Yeah, it’ll be good for you. Start a garden or something. Just, do anything that isn’t calling me at 3 in the goddamn morning while I’m on an op. Call me at like 11 on a Sunday when it’s my day off. That’s a normal time to call Steve. If you catch me in a good mood we can even do brunch.”

Aka Steve Rogers starts a garden and it goes better than anyone expected.

+ Post WS. Bucky returns, secretly waters Steve’s plants, and then helps Steve at the farmers market.

Sometimes the path to happiness involves bad timing turned good, a butt plant, and a little everyday magic. For Steve and Bucky, it's all that and more.

“It’s Fertilizer” (G, 1k) by daisymondays

“It’s fertilizer,” Steve says, far too primly for someone whose house smells like shit.

“That’s just a fancy word for shit.”

“No, it’s the correct word for plant nutrients.”

It’s becoming more and more evident that Steve is not going to admit that his house does in fact smell like shit, and he’s got that stubborn set to his jaw that tells Sam exactly who is behind the cause of the smell. Barnes.

"Hey, come here," Steve says, pulling Bucky close enough to wrap his arms around his waist. Bucky sinks into him, forehead resting on the crown of Steve's head. "How can I help?"

He's not even thinking about it at first, about the way he helped before, but then Bucky breathes warm and heavy in Steve's hair and suddenly it's all he's thinking about—those little gasps Bucky had let out, and the way his skin had flushed pink while Steve brought him off.

Bucky's arms get a little tighter around him now, like maybe he's remembering too. And he must be, because then he says, "Could you… Stevie, would you mind? Like before?"

When Bucky needs him, Steve will be there. In any city, in any century, in every way that Bucky will have him.

This time, it’s bABY MAI! I couldn’t stop laughing at the thought of Asahi accidentally sitting on the baby (bought up in chapter 3) and then dressing the baby in neon yellow 😂 So I had to draw it. This child is absolutely precious and I love her. (More art at some point, I was just too excited and had to post this one first hehe <3 I would have made it sooner but I wanted to wait until  knew what she looked like properly instead of guessing. Tbh I she’s pretty much exactly how I pictured her but with brown eyes Lol)

Just a little appreciation note to sing @ellessey-writes praises. Wrote the only fic to make me cry (a lot), and one of the best asanoya fics too. How she writes suga and daichi in any fic, I can’t even explain how my heart feels when i get to read one of those pieces.

Just read another and I feel like I floated on a cloud for 20,000 words. My heart is full.
