On Saturday June 23rd, 2012, many went to their place of employment and many to shop, eat or socialize at the Algo Centre Mall in Elliot Lake, Ontario, Canada. They did not know that within a few short hours they may not be leaving through the same doors they entered. Some would become witness to something that never should have happened. Two people would lose their lives. Too many people would not be the same after that day. Many persons dealt with a multitude of emotions due to the event and some of the greatest strengths came from their fellow community members. Total strangers become friends and caregivers. The world may have been watching as this senseless tragedy unfolded however, the people of Elliot Lake experienced only the need to focus on each other and the task at hand. The dedication to this project stems from both a life long passion for history and knowledge, and a sincere heart felt respect and emotional bond to the victim's families and friends, and all persons touched by this horrific event. Although we will never forget, the truth will help us heal and those lost will not be in vain.
