I’m not sure why but I love chaotic energetic impulsive people who may be a bit unhinged and who are like “doing stuff without thinking and acting crazy (I don’t mean it in a bad way I just don’t have a better word for it right now) and having lots of manic energy that goes to the first idea they have but it’s just having fun and being an action person” so so much like:

To any fans of EJ Caswell I might have a show for you: Unstable.

It’s on Netflix and stars Rob Lowe and his son John Owen Lowe as father and son Ellis and Jackson Dragon respectively. They are trying to reconnect after the death of Ellis’s wife and Jackson’s mother. They end up working together at Ellis’s research company as they try to rekindle their father-son bond. It’s actually a really funny show.

Anyway the reason I bring up EJ is because just like Jackson he is trying to constantly get out from his dad’s shadow and also seek his approval, and Ellis’s can be a self absorbed narcissist but he does genuinely care for his son(even if he doesn’t fully understand him), he’s just really bad at showing it. Jackson and Ellis are basically EJ and Cash but with a better relationship.

Anyway it’s a good show and the second season is coming out on August 1st so I thought I’d try to get the word out and I figured EJ and Jackson were such similar characters it might be right up some people’s alley.

i started watching "unstable" on netflix with rob lowe and it's so funny. i loved rob lowe as chris traeger on parks and rec and his new character is very similar!! he's hilarious. he's also lowkey having a really really funky bromance with this other guy (only on episode 3 so i have no idea how the plot goes yet) but yeah. this show is so neurodivergent!! rob lowe's kid plays his onscreen son and his character doesn't like when his food touches, and there's another character who is really autistic coded.

if you like to tell yourself it's all good when it isn't, or eat cereal with two spoons, or play with sticks and glasses because you can't focus on your job, you might appreciate it as much as i am!

I still firmly believe that Ellis and Jackson Dragon are just Tony Stark and Peter Parker in a different universe if Tony hadn't cleaned up his act. Anna is Pepper.
