Just Give Me A Minute
Wisps Of Hope

Summary: The day started so willingly, so bright, so much so you almost forgot where you were. That you weren't here, stuck, trapped, in this god forsaken town that no compass, no map could return you back home. Such a day started so blissfully, sun shining, not a cloud in the sky, until there was and it all poured down in such a hurricane that everything bad came along with it.
Wisps of gentle morning sun gathered beneath the curtains, flooding into the colony house and filling and replacing the cold air with warmth. That warmth, that safety, was rare to find in such a place, such a place usually aligned with desperation and horror, that safe feeling was something to cherish and something that began to flutter within the top story of the colony house, the neatly tucked away room just off to the side of the staircase.
There hadn’t been any casualties, injuries, or accidents within the past six weeks, six entire weeks without those things claiming another innocent life, without another family being broken apart even more so than this place does initially. The wannabe telephone pole, standing in the middle of town, was steady in its progress, getting higher and higher with more hopes of reaching civilisation, and hope.
Everything was going smoothly, but, you couldn't subside the feeling of something approaching, something semi-noticeable that you couldn't prove, but in a way you knew. Something you obviously couldn't see, prove, or really notice, but something like an approaching impending doom of something bad, and something soon. Because like Axl Rose said, nothing lasts forever.
Unfortunately, it was very evident in this place that nothing good lasts long, like a minuscule ticking time bomb after every event, going tick tock tick tock every time something good happens, something actually good. Like a new approach, learning new things about this place, and that timer begins ticking because there was always something bad about to drop.
That there was so much evil, so much anger, and it was over powering. So overpowering it gets into people's heads, makes them do things they know they don't want to, like Sarah, like Eljin, and all the others who the town possessed, manipulated, tortured into believing they would be saving the lives of others. Instead, taking more and more.
The comforting weight across your hips keeps you grounded, warm, safe. You knew exactly who it was, and you knew exactly where you were. Even though it wasn't your comfy bed in your sea side home in Cali, your dog, your cat, and even your annoying little alarm clock, waiting to be slammed off your bed side table for that 7:00 o'clock wake up every morning. Everything you thought of, you missed, but you never were able to think about either for too long.
Because you knew the risks, the real risks, and the very real things out there wanting to offer no chances for you to see that bed again, your silly alarm clock, or the comfort of your pets again.
“Morning baby,” Ellis presses his lips to the dip in your neck, gently dusting your wisps of hair from your collarbone. The warmth beneath your arm and the feeling of his toned chest beneath your wrist, kept you from reminding yourself of the things you lost, now reminding you of the things you gained.
With a smile, you hum in reply, eyes still fluttered closed, sifting your arm beneath the cotton pillow and turning your body to face his. Your bare chest pressed against the left side of his ribs, and your chin resting upon his toned, sun kissed bicep. “Morning.”
His left hand, his arm beneath your head, combs through your tousled hair that is spread profusely around your pillow, almost like a halo in the morning sun who peaks through the pastel green curtains you insisted on making months prior. “Sleep well?”
You hum in acknowledgment, the words went through your ear, however you weren't particularly listening, enjoying and soaking up the moment before the impending end occurs. “Good."
“Good—that’s really good," sleepy, slow, and soft, his calloused hands drifted across your skin, dashing over your body beneath the silk sheets. It was evident by his voice he'd been up longer than you believed, usually soft, deeper and rougher, now smooth like whiskey and brewed espresso.
Therefore, meaning he'd intentionally not moved, not spoken, probably barely breathed, for the better part of the morning, so you didn't wake, for you to continue to attempt to retrieve your sleep you'd missed the days prior. "You definitely needed it.”
A cool breeze settled over the exposed skin of your shoulders, goose bumps dusted over your skin. Being such an older style building, sometimes a draft wafts through the top story of the colony house and when the door is opened and closed on the regular, obviously, this meant people were coming and going as they wished.
Gently, your eyes flutter open, swallowing and linking your leg over his waist, you nuzzled into his side. “You?"
“With you? Always.”
I few moments of silence sits gently between the two of you, sun drenched sheets and warmth or the morning light offers some normalcy, a sense of safety and bliss, despite the absence of freedom.
Moment’s like these are what give you hope. Hope that the new day would bring more, and better things. That tomorrow holds more, more good rather than bad. Because in this moment, you were safe, happy.
Mornings like these, in your bed, tangled in the sheets with the man you love, gives you hope that the new day, may come with gifts rather than sorrow.
