Winter firefly, this species doesn’t have a lantern

@echo-of-the-bells submitted: Hello, can you identify this? Found in [removed], please remove location. Slightly blurry friend cleaning his antennae :) from what I can find it looks like it might be a winter firefly?

It’s a diurnal firefly in the genus Ellychnia, which would include winter fireflies, but also includes a couple other species. I wouldn’t personally be able to say which one just from these photos!

Dang you sure did. I love them both. The beetle is a firefly in Ellychnia, maybe a California glowwworm. The snail looks like a Pacific sideband :)

@cephelagod​ submitted: Some more friends from ant hunting in Salem, Oregon! Everyone was released after pictures were taken; saw quite a few of these camponatus majors about, as well as the spiders and beetles! The spider with the large abdomen was super common where I was at, and I constantly confused them for camponatus queens while walking about

Some beautiful friends! I especially love the shiny spider with the large butt. Zelotes genus, probably? Idk about species.
