The world of the Fae was vast, and filled with creatures that were not human, but rather not of this world. The Sidhe, beautiful, and mighty. Trolls, the Dewdrop pixies, elementals... there were many, and above them ruled the Courts. Elodie cared little for the politics of the other Seelie, and Unseelie, and it was with no small bit of luck that her position as a Wyldfae, not tied to any Court, that she didn't have to. In times of war, it was her choice to fight or to remain neutral, and without the allegiance, she walked between the world of men and the Fae just a little bit easier.
(Once upon a time there had been four Courts, but now there was only two, her mother and father came from the two long dead Courts. Most of the survivors had either chosen to pledge themselves to one of the two remaining ones or to simply leave and join the Wyldfae. Her parents were the latter).
It was with a bit of curiosity, and boredom that Elodie opened the small café, that she called The Dreaming (for those that knew the truth, it was a beacon of safety, and for those who were unaware, it was simply a cute name). The Dreaming followed the rules of hospitality to the letter. usually that was fine. you came and bought the food and drink, and the debt was paid, perhaps their was an itch and a craving to return, but that was normal.
But just as it was safe to take and drink the fairy food, take not more than you can afford, and ne'er give out your whole name. Names held power and weight, and letting a fairy know it could hold poor consequences. Just as it was safe to eat at The Dreaming, it was best to never except anything more. "Samples, take one!"
Elodie has a small list of people that owe her debts. She doesn't usually call in the favours they owe, and when she does, they're rarely large, they are debts to a Fae.
Elodie stays aware of the news in the community, and The Dreaming was a safe, neutral place for the other supernatural creatures to hold meetings, and to quite simply be themselves. It's a point of pride for her. She looks, and is reasonably harmless compared to some. For those that know to ask, The Dreaming serves more than just mortal drinks, including things like emotions and memory. She likes running her café, and seeing the people. People are interesting, and it gives her goals and a position. (Most people assume her hair's naturally platinum blonde, they're wrong, it's lilac, ans she dyes it frequently).
