One of the major concerns over the ELD adoption is the confusion over the log edits. While there are restrictions under the new FMCSA ELD regulations, there is more flexibility in management of elogs than many think.

Although, the original driving status recorded by ELD is not erasable, but drivers are allowed to make edits to elog by providing annotations indicating the change.
According to ELD rule, the following edits are not allowed to by driver or fleet manager:

Authority Of Fleet Managers To Make Edits
According to FMCSA regulations, only drivers have the authority to make direct log edits. Fleet managers only have the permit to make log suggestions that are kept in pending, until the driver allows or denies those edits.
Protection Against Driver Harassment
Fleet managers don’t have the authority to make edits because FMCSA wanted the drivers to have ultimate control over the edits. This is to limit the harassment to driver from fleet managers.
