So I’m still working on the Ingrid comic (it’s the longest one in a while); here’s something in the meantime. I’m considering a super deformed art style for filler work like this.

Amber, Eloise, and Fuchsia (formerly Charlie, Skye, and Reese) are three characters that popped up a couple times as a trio in the original continuity, but suffered a loss of screen time from debuting in the third, final, and shortest season.

Eloise and Amber are reimagined in It’s Color Theory as cousins, having now known each other since they were little kids. Amber’s family life as a child, I imagine, wasn’t great; she probably had overly strict, education focused parents, no siblings, and didn’t get a lot of freedom until her later teens, none of which mesh well with her “lovable airhead” persona. The slightly spoiled Ellie was her first, and for a long time only, friend, which is why Amber’s so reliant on, almost clingy towards, Eloise for guidance. Like a little sister who follows you on dates and tries too hard to be like you. However, Eloise has a rather biased view of Amber’s upbringing: Amber herself doesn’t view it as especially unusual, and the fact her mom and Ellie’s dad are siblings means Eloise herself doesn’t question it either. As a result, while Eloise openly considers Amber her best friend, she’s the not best at consoling her the rare occasions she’s in a bad mood since she doesn’t know how Amber’s head works outside of the flawed information she’s been told.

Amber and Fuchsia are a more interesting pair. Amber likes everyone, obviously, but Fuchsia’s got a shorter fuse. She’s marginally more patient with Amber because Fuchsia knows Amber’s head ain’t on right; but she also doesn’t mince her words around her. If Amber messes up, Fuchsia’s gonna make sure she knows it. Amber refers to Fuchsia as one of her best friends, which is par for the course. Fuchsia, who mostly hangs out with guys, is at least willing to admit Amber’s her best female friend (third place overall). It probably helps that Amber toes the line between “cheerleader” and “quarterback”, and is surprisingly okay with the stuff Fuchsia experiences in the bad part of town. She’s also empathetic, so even if she can’t articulate it, she can at least try to get into Fuchsia’s head.

Eloise and Fuchsia are a stranger pair. They’d hardly even acknowledge each other’s existence if not for Amber, but whenever the three are working together (which is almost always for scheming purposes), they become the dominant personalities due to both having more elastic morals. Eloise is usually nice, but manipulative. Fuchsia’s more confrontational and occasionally violent. In these moments, Amber becomes the voice of reason. Otherwise they’re mostly neutral on each other. Eloise sees Fuchsia as a nonconformist, and she can respect that, but they’re too different for Ellie to take an interest in. Fuchsia sees Eloise as Amber’s preppy cousin who’s at best kinda cool sometimes, but not enough to overlook the headache she gets from Ellie’s accent.

Character Bases

Eloise’s facial structure and hairstyle are deliberately reminiscent of the Pokémon Pheromosa, but I don’t have that kind of space.

Development

Eloise, known as Skye for a very long time in development, is a fairly old design, starting off as a character somewhat similar to a less emotive Crimson and gradually defrosting through each stage of development. The initial writing process for her debut season made her more expressive, but still fairly icy. The season itself made her far nicer, if still aloof and condescending.

It’s Color Theory went back and forth between having Eloise in the main cast, her redesign occurring while she was being shelved for Season Two. Olive passed her old colors down to her to allow more color variety among the cast (Chloe and Lyman were the only green leads at the time). Eloise’s promotion back the the main cast rendered all of that moot, although it did allow Sky (without the “e”) to be a main herself.

And she finally ditched the tank top.

This marks the first appearance of Eloise and Amber, having gone by “Skye” and “Charlie” in the old continuity. Incidentally, Olive and Paige used to have their names.

This is the first episode since “Back Again, I See” in which all six core characters appear.

Lyman is seen without his jacket, Bryan his vest, and Peony her ascot for the first time. We also see Peony’s hair down.

No Grey Drewmans appear. Geneva is also the only Red Drewman in the main cast to have debuted by this point and not be present.

Peony’s parasol debuts here.

This episode ends a mini-arc starting with “Violet and Scarlett” where the door is busted down.

Nobody in the Oobay-Monade household is seen in their regular clothes. This is subsequently the first time J.’s eyes are seen in full.

Chloe wears a sleep mask, much like her original continuity counterpart did.

This episode aired, although doesn’t necessarily take place, on Lyman’s birthday (420).

This is the first episode Eloise, Forrest, and Landon have appeared since their debuts, the first Ellie talks onscreen, and the first Landon doesn’t speak.

This is the first appearance of Ingrid since Sore Losers and Scarlett’s first voiced appearance since her debut.

This is the first appearance of multiple incidentals; Cedric, Cree, Russell, Orchid, Hermes, Lupe, and Reese. Shamus also returns after debuting in Hiring Squad. This is the first time multiple side characters outside of the city’s defined workforce (so far Siren, Jade, Nathan, and Mr. Boss) have dialogue.

Hermes, Orchid, and Lupe all previously appeared in Rough Sketch under different colors and thus names. Hermes in particular was completely redesigned and is unrecognizable from his original appearance due to taking the design of another character who has yet to debut.

This is the second appearance of Mayor Elroy, setting up his role in episode 42.

Reese (initially designed as Brando and colored cognac before ultimately being retconned back to his original design) was originally made as a catch all “douchebag” character whose suffering would be played for laughs. The fact he happens to have the same name Fuchsia did in Rough Sketch is a welcome coincidence.

Cree was named “Daryl” in between stages of development. The only reason she isn’t called that here is because I legitimately forgot I changed it.

As of this episode, Scarlett’s skin and Eloise’s hair have been slightly redesigned.

Tyler was originally meant to speak in this episode, but his line was cut for space.

No Gray Drewmans appear. This is also a rare episode where none of the core six characters show up. If one did, it would be Violet to round out the cards motif Eloise, Fuchsia, and Forrest have.

Just to clarify, the last panel is supposed to be a play on words (“You do you”), not a suicide dare. I want to make that clear.
