Welcome to the last day of Kinktober 2023! We’ll be ending with Elorcan, and I really hope you all enjoy their sexy times!
Eyes on Me, I’m in charge - Rated E - 3.6k
While on their yearly vacation, Lorcan desperately wants to fix things between him and Elide. What he hadn’t planned on, however, was for Fenrys to book the group a sex cabin.
But when Lorcan discovers a surprising kink that Elide has, maybe the cabin wasn’t such a bad idea after all . . . (Not that he’d ever tell Fenrys that)
This was written for Kinktober 2023, so of course there will be explicit sex in this story. Please check out the stories for the other couples down below. All of these ladies are very talented writers and you won’t be disappointed! 😉

Elide stuffed another marshmallow on the skewer and held it over the fire. She half listened to the conversations and bickering around her, occasionally putting in her two cents as she focused on getting her marshmallow a perfect golden brown. She hated when the flames caught and scorched it and left it a crumbling charred mess.
On another night, if her marshmallow burned, she could’ve given it, albeit dejectedly, to her boyfriend who for reasons she couldn’t comprehend liked his marshmallows burnt. But not tonight. Tonight, Lorcan was sitting on the opposite side of the fire from her, separated on each side by their friends. Tonight, she couldn’t give him a burnt s’more without the confused or shocked looks from their friends. Because tonight, she and Lorcan had to pretend like they haven’t been secretly dating for a month and a half.
So, tonight, Elide focused on her marshmallow.
“Okay, okay, here we go,” Aelin sat next to Elide and grabbed a flashlight from her bag before turning it on and holding it beneath her face. The light caught on her cheekbones and cast shadows over her skin. “Who’s ready to have nightmares tonight?”
“You don’t need to tell a story for that, Galathynius,” Lorcan smirked. “You’re disturbing enough.”
“I think you mean delightful, Salvaterre, not that you’d know what that is.”
Elide cringed inwardly. This was why she and Lorcan were keeping their relationship to themselves for now. She loved Aelin, and she lo—really liked Lorcan, but Aelin and Lorcan could be at each other’s throats on a good day.
Rolling her eyes, Elide nudged Aelin with her shoulder. “Come on, watch’ya got?”
As her friend began to tell the story, Elide caught Lorcan’s eye. His dark brows had raised a bit at her interjection, and he flashed her a quick wink as she discreetly rolled her eyes at his amusement. She lost track of the story as she kept her attention on her boyfriend. It really was a cruel joke of their own making that she wasn’t sitting next to him, curled up into his side. By the look that flashed across his face, she knew he was thinking the same thing and cursing the fire that separated them.
“Virgins? Really?” Fenrys interrupted, drawing Elide’s attention and earning a glare from Aelin. “That’s so cliché.”
The blonde opened her mouth to reply but Lysandra beat her to the punch. “What, not interested anymore knowing it isn’t coming after you?”
“Fuck off, Ennar,” he scoffed but any annoyance was negated by his self-satisfied grin.
The story went on, and even if the tale itself was lackluster, Aelin had a way of captivating people’s attention. It wasn’t long before everyone was leaning closer to the fire, listening to a story about a horrifying creature that lived in the very woods to their backs.
“A creature that fearsome and bloodthirsty doesn’t need to be clever. Anyone with a lick of common sense may just outwit the monster, but its prey rarely survives long enough to try. It doesn’t have a name. The lucky, or unlucky, few who do escape its clutches are never the same; only lucid enough to recall its jagged claws and gruesome teeth, warning others about the beast that prowls these woods. Don’t go looking for the monster, it very well may be the last thing you ever do.”
Silence stretched out around them as Aelin turned off the flashlight…only to be broken by Fenrys wetly blowing into his palm, eliciting a loud fart noise. “Is that the best you can do?” He laughed as he narrowly missed the flashlight flung at his head.
Elide knew Lorcan was about to chime in and she tried shaking her head but he continued anyway.
“Where did you find that?” He mocked. “From some kiddie Halloween book?”
Elide arched a brow at him and replied drily, “Yeah, ‘cause a kid’s book would have a monster who specifically attacks virgins.”
“Exactly,” Aedion argued, but used her point oppositely, “it goes after all of them. Scary.”
Lysandra nudged his shoulder with an eye roll, “Most of them wouldn’t even know what virgin means.”
“And that’s,” Rowan nodded, “where the story turns scary for the adults who have to bullshit their way through that explanation.”
“That’s convoluted,” Elide scoffed and met Lorcan’s amused stare over the fire.
“Maybe,” Her boyfriend shrugged before turning back to Aelin, “Doesn’t matter though, ‘cause it still sucks.”
Scoffing and crossing her arms, Aelin countered, “Like you could do better.”
“Better than a half-wit monster?” His voice dripped with condescension. “Yeah, I think so.”
Individual voices rose and bled together as everyone chimed in with their own opinions. Marshmallows were thrown across the fire in between insults and laughter, and while everyone else was focused on arguing, Elide found Lorcan’s gaze again. Truthfully, he’d barely taken his eyes off her – she could feel the intensity of his stare on her skin and prayed she didn’t look as flushed as she felt. If she did, she could blame it on the fire.
He was smirking at her and Elide’s eyes darted around the group ensuring no one else noticed. When their eyes locked again, his smirk was impossibly wider. She rolled her eyes, biting back a grin of her own. As much as she wished they weren’t pretending, it was exciting having a secret just between them.
Snap!
A loud cracking sounded from the woods.
The conversation immediately halted, and everyone’s heads swung around towards the noise. Nervous laughter jumped around the group as they shifted uneasily. It was just a story, but it was also dark and Halloween. Murmurs of there’s nothing out there echoed.
Another branch snapped loudly from the darkness, followed quickly by a second, louder snap, once again silencing the group.
“Aelin, are you doing this?” Aedion asked uneasily as he shifted in his seat and side-eyed his cousin. “Did you set this up?”
Lysandra scoffed and lightly hit his shoulder.
“Nah,” Lorcan disagreed, “she isn’t that clever.”
Sometimes Elide thought Lorcan goaded Aelin just for the fun of it… and because he had a death wish. Before Aelin could bite his head off, Elide arched a brow and leaned forward before taunting, “Why don’t you go see what that noise was then?”
Lorcan turned towards her and beneath the annoyance that he wore for show – mostly for show – she could see the heat simmering there. He shook his head, scoffing, “Right, because I’m going to walk into the supposedly haunted forest. I’ve watched horror movies; I know how that ends.”
As if on cue, more snaps and cracks echoed through the trees. This time, they were followed by birds cawing before a dozen or so of them flew out of the forest, their silhouettes visible against the moonlight.
Laughing to herself, Elide brushed herself off and stood. “For fucks sake, I’ll go check it out.”
All eyes focused on her, but no one else made a move to stand.
“Why does anyone have to check it out?” Rowan asked incredulously
Lysandra pulled her jacket tighter around herself and scoffed as she looked pointedly at Aedion, Lorcan, Fenrys, and Rowan.
“Really? None of you men,” she teased, “have the balls to go in there? You’re gonna let Elide go all by herself?”
Lorcan and Aedion rolled their eyes good-naturedly as Fenrys scoffed, “Excuse you, but as a feminist, I refuse to believe Elide isn’t capable enough to go by herself.”
Rowan added, “And as someone who’s met Elide, I refuse to believe that any monster would stand a chance against her.”
Aelin nodded sagely, “She is small, but she is mighty.”
Rolling her eyes at her friends, Elide rounded the fire and aimed for the woods. She turned to walk backward and joked, “I could be walking to my death right now and you’d all be laughing it up around the fire.”
Lorcan had turned to watch her walk away. “Get back over here, you’re the one who volunteered.”
“After your scared ass refused.” She retorted making Aelin laugh.
Huffing and crossing his arms, Lorcan continued to watch her with raised brows. “I’m not scared of a few broken tree branches.”
Elide grinned. “Could’ve fooled me.”
With his face turned away from the group as he looked at a retreating Elide, they couldn’t see the way his brows furrowed at the sight of her getting farther away, or how his eyes darkened at the amusement on her face, both of which only fueled her more and pulled her grin wider.
“Oh no,” she teased, getting farther away from the group and the fire. “I hope I don’t find the beast and lead it back here.”
If any of their friends were surprised at how reactive Lorcan was being, they didn’t show it. Or maybe the two were too focused on each other to notice.
Elide saw his face twist into a smirk and for a second worried about what was about to come out of his mouth.
“That’s not a threat, Lochan” his words dripping with provocation. “The legend says it only goes after virgins…so sucks for you.”
Elide’s brows shot up in disbelief as trickles of laughter sounded from around the circle. It was true she wasn’t as open about her exploits as her friends, but of all people…
“Mm,” she waited for the laughter to die. “It’s a good thing you aren’t going; the legend says someone only needs a speck of common sense to best it…so that’d suck for you.”
Aelin snorted hard enough to choke on the marshmallow she was eating. Loud laughter trailed her as she finally made it to the forest’s edge.
Just before she could step past the tree line, she heard the unmistakable sound of Lorcan grunting as he rose from his seat and walked towards her. “Let's go.”
She chose to ignore the cheering and whistling that followed them into the woods. They stayed quiet as they stepped over dried leaves and fallen branches, staying careful to not trip over something and end up injured and sprawled on the forest floor. It wasn’t until they’d walked far enough that the fire was no longer visible, and a minute more, before Lorcan wrapped a hand around her hip and pulled Elide backward so that her back was resting against a tree trunk and Lorcan was standing in front of her.
Both of his hands fell to her waist, and she lifted hers to the front of his jacket. One of his thumbs draw light circles across her skin as she toyed with his collar. But when he dipped his head down, trying to connect their lips in a much-anticipated kiss, she pressed on his chest to stop him an inch away from her.
“Virgin? Really?” she asked with an unimpressed raised brow, unintentionally echoing Fenrys earlier criticisms of the story.
“Blame my apparent lack of common sense,” he chuckled low and leaned forward as her resistance lifted, pressing his lips against hers in a way that almost had her forgetting why she paused him in the first place.
When they broke apart, Elide grinned and laughed softly. Lorcan offered her a small smile exclusive to her and tucked a rogue lock of hair behind her ear. She wound her arms around his middle and asked, “Wanna go break some branches and scare the shit out of the scaredy cats?”
His smile turned wicked, and his eyes lit up with dark amusement. “Oh, I absolutely do. But they deserve to worry for a bit; let ‘em stew”
“Good thinking,” Elide’s grin matched his. “What do you think we should do with the time?”
Lorcan leaned his head down so that his lips brushed her ear, bringing one hand up to graze her jaw before sliding around to cup the back of her neck. She could feel his breath on her skin as he spoke, and it sent shivers down her spine. “I can think of a few things.”
“You came for me,” she whispered, and Lorcan realized that it was confusion that was painting her features. As if she had expected him to simply carry on along his merry way without a moment’s hesitation. Even though she was looking up at him, his hand drifted down her jaw to grip her chin between his finger and thumb.
“I made a promise to protect you.” The words were gruff with the weight of his guilt as her screams echoed in his head. As the cold, distant, broken darkness in her eyes haunted him as she’d begged him to tell her why he hadn’t let her kill herself. “I know I broke that vow, Elide. And if you never forgive me for it, I will accept that. I won’t be able to forgive myself for it. But it makes no difference how much you may hate me, I will always find you. I’ll always come for you. No matter what.”
could we get Elorcan for I or O? Thank you ❤️ ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
A/N: this one was a challenge because I'm pretty sure it's the first time I write canon-compliant Elorcan, but since their dynamic is pretty similar to Elriel I hope I did them justice. Also, I thought of a completely different ending last night but I didn't write it down and now I'm just mad at myself 🥲 I hope you enjoy it tho x
Elorcan - "You bought me hot chocolate?"
Lorcan watched with amusement as Elide tried to stuff yet another gift inside the carriage. He had offered his help, but she had simply sent him a glare that had him backing off without another word (he might’ve stollen a kiss or two, but that was beside the point). She was on a mission, determined to fit everything and herself inside the spacious, yet small, cabin of the carriage. How she’d be comfortable inside with so many things surrounding her was a mystery to Lorcan, but he didn’t dare ask – he liked his head right where it was.
“Is it really necessary to bring all of these with us?” He raised a brow, his arms crossed as he watched Elide struggle with a heavier box. “Can’t we just send some by courier?”
By the lovely scoff Elide let out of her perfect lips, a puff of air forming in front of them, he assumed that was a no. He didn’t exactly see the issue, and he told her just as much.
“The issue, Lorcan, is that I handpicked these gifts myself and I want to see our friends” She sent him a pointed look. “Open them on Yulemas.” She finished, as if no further explanation was needed. That critical glance ought to mean something, but he couldn’t really tell what, exactly, that was.
Lorcan was well acquainted with what Yulemas was – he was over 500 years old, for Hellas sake. But most of his life he had celebrated the holiday with full cups of mulled wine and random company, and he had certainly never traded presents with anyone. Something Elide was clearly too adamant on doing this year – even if their queen was hosting a public ball.
“And how, exactly, will that work? Open the gifts in front of your queen’s people?” He teased, watching as Elide eyed the carriage with a thoughtful expression. “Will it happen before or after the dancing begins?” He asked, but she simply turned to him, a light smirk on her pretty lips.
“Is this your way of telling me you’ll dance with me, Lorcan Lochan?” She said his name with a bit of a flare, making him chuckle darkly as he stepped closer, pulling her into his arms. She could jest all she wanted. He was proud of his name – and to hear it coming from her lips certainly did things to him that begged for more time than what they currently had.
“I’ll save all dancing for when we’re alone, lady.” He smiled, pressing a peck to her lips, making her giggle as she squirmed in his arms.
“You’re a menace.” She laughed, slapping him slightly on the chest as she pulled away, sighing as she eyed the open carriage once more. “Do you think Dorian would mind if I sent his present to Rifthold instead? I’m not sure there’s enough space for everything with it.”
Lorcan eyed the biggest box in the carriage, not sure the new King of Adarlan even needed a gift that large, but he refrained from commenting, instead furrowing his brows as he noticed plenty of space still available. Mainly considering his wife was tiny – something he refrained from commenting as well.
“Are you taking anything else?” He looked at his mate, her pretty pale face tainted pink from the cold. She looked adorable, even if her lips looked a bit blue-ish. He reached for her hand, leading her to the carriage so she could hide herself from the December cold.
“Well, no, but how will you fit?” She asked as she stepped inside, her head turning so she could look at him. Lorcan frowned.
“What do you mean, how will I fit?” He asked, his eyes easily spotting the stable boy as he approached with Farasha by his side. Lorcan couldn’t help but smile as the mighty horse seemed to refuse following the boy, trying to lead him instead.
“I don’t know if you’ve noticed but you’re quite big-”
“I might remember you saying something along those lines recently, yes.” He teased, loving the way her cheeks darkened.
“And-” She sent him a glare that had him chuckling. “I think I might have miscalculated how much space you’d take, exactly.” She sighed as she ran a critical eye over the boxes.
Lorcan huffed, frowning as he watched his mate try to lift a heavier one. “I won’t take any space at all.”
Elide went still under his eyes, her own narrowing on him. Lorcan didn’t dare more, nor blink as he watched her.
“What do you mean, you won’t take any space at all?” Her voice was deadly quiet and Lorcan wasn’t ashamed to admit he had to look away for a second before having the nerve to look at her again.
“I have Farasha, El.” He said, as gently as possible, hoping it would soothe her.
She smiled at him, but it did little to calm him down. “I know that, but why would you take her to Orynth?”
Lorcan raised a brow. “Because I take her everywhere.” And it was true. Farasha was his trusty sidekick. There was something to be said about having the horse from Hellas by his side at all times. The people of Perranth respected him, but he couldn’t deny the fact he enjoyed the fear in their eyes when he rode with the black beauty.
If he was being forced to see the cadre for the first time in months, why not try to instil the same kind of reaction from them as well?
“Your take her everywhere in Perranth!” She scoffed. “Not to another city – one hours away for that matter.”
Lorcan eyed the stable boy, suddenly not feeling as amused as he saw the horse fight the little man. It appeared to be winning, too. He shrugged. “She can handle it.”
“It’s freezing out, Lorcan!” Elide bellowed. “You can’t possibly believe you’ll be fine on horseback for over 12 hours in this weather.”
Lorcan had to admit he was still adapting to the Terrasen weather – so different from sunny Doranelle – but he barely even felt the cold. The barren, frozen lands bothered him, but the chilly air? Not so much.
“I have gone through worse.”
Elide rolled her eyes, crossing her arms over her chest as she sent him a daring glare. Hellas, he loved her. “What is the real issue here, Lorcan?”
He furrowed his brows. “What are you talking about?”
“Lorcan.” She threatened, her tiny frame shivering. Was she that annoyed?
“I have never been inside a carriage Elide.” He said as neutrally as possible, trying to reason with her.
She frowned, eyes flickering between the cart and him before she dropped her voice to a murmur. “Are you scared of it?”
Lorcan sputtered. “What?”
“Well, you seem-”
He stepped closer, dropping his voice as well as he noticed a few sellers paying entirely too much attention to their conversation. “Elide, I’m bigger than the carriage. Why would I be afraid of it?”
She smiled sweetly. “Good thing you’d go sitting down then.” She said, sitting down on the cushioned bench without a glance back, stubbornly waiting for him to follow.
“Elide.” He tried, but she didn’t move. “It wouldn’t be appropriate for me-”
“Appropriate?” She choked on the word, failing to hide a laugh Lorcan wasn’t entirely sure she wanted hidden. If the wicked smile on her face was any indication, he was sure she had wanted him to hear her make fun of him. He rose an eyebrow, waiting for body to stop shaking with mirth.
“Something funny?” He drawled.
“It’s freezing.” She said matter-of-factly, and he couldn’t help but notice how her teeth clattered slightly, how her face seemed paler than what it was before. She cleared her voice, standing straighter even if her body still shuddered. “You’ll get sick, Lorcan.”
He frowned, watching her attentively. “I can’t even remember the last time I got sick.” He muttered, more to himself than her as he eyed her blue-ish lips again.
“Well, must you reminisce it because of your male pride?” She narrowed her eyes, and Lorcan was sure that if she had the strength for it, she would toss the closest box towards his head.
“That’s not-” He trailed off, realization settling in.
How had he missed it? They had been outside for over 30 minutes loading the carriage and though Lorcan barely felt the cold pierce his skin, he sometimes seemed to forget Elide wasn’t the same. She had, luckily, put on some weight in the last couple of months, but they had only recently started to work through strengthening it. She shouldn’t have been outside for this long, loading a carriage, nonetheless.
“What?” She asked, a bit restless as she grabbed a small blanket to her side, covering her legs with it.
Her blue lips, her red-tinted cheeks, her large coat that she kept trying to cover her body with even though it seemed to do little against the severe cold of the Perranthian winter… Elide was freezing, and he suspected the reason she wanted him inside had more to do with that than her concern over him riding a horse for 12 hours straight.
He eyed the vendors that usually set shop around what would soon be the palace square – if the palace ever ended up being built, that was. There were a few tents already open for business, selling trinkets and imported goods, vegetables, and fruit – but he focused on a smaller one to the side, steam coming from the few cauldrons boiling behind an old lady that was wrapped in a big shawl.
He was walking before he even realise it.
“Lorcan,” Elide called, but he was already storming off, his heart racing with the need to see her well. He huffed, refusing to feel embarrassed as he approached the wide-eyed seller, her entire complexion red – from the cold or the fact he had heard their fight, he couldn’t say.
“Can I get one of those?” He mumbled, nodding towards the closest iron cauldron. It smelled sickly sweet, but he had a feeling Elide would like it. The lady nodded frantically, grabbing a small clay cup before grabbing the ladle. “Bigger.” He simply said, making her drop the cup to her feet. Lorcan couldn’t bring himself to care, not as he watched the wooden carriage and cursed himself over not seeing the signs earlier.
Was she so stubborn she would rather freeze to death than simply ask him for his company? And why hadn’t he helped her? He sometimes forgot their bodies weren’t exactly the same – that where he had strength and endurance, she had will and stubbornness. His fae body barely let him feel the cold scratching his skin and yet Elide couldn’t help shivering when they stood outside for too long.
And it had been too long.
Lorcan thanked the seller, giving her a gold coin as he made his way to the stable boy who still struggled with the iron-willed horse.
“Lord Lochan, I-“
“Farasha won’t be joining us in our trip to Orynth,” He simply said, hiding the smirk that threatened to break free at the look of pure relief on the boy’s face. He must be new then, if he didn’t know how much harder it was to take Farasha back into the stables. “You can take her back.” He said, petting the horse with his free hand before resuming his path to Elide.
He momentarily wondered if she would throw the boiling liquid into his face, but quickly let the thought go as he saw her nearly trip on her own two feet as she jumped from the carriage to the ground, her brown, determined eyes locking on him with a fury that amused him more than scared him. And it scared him quite a bit if he was being honest.
He fought the urge to growl at seeing her outside again.
“Changed your mind?” His beautifully stubborn mate asked as he stepped closer, her eyes quickly dropping to his hand, where the liquid steamed against the cold air. Her mouth parted slightly, her eyes flickering between his hand and his eyes. “Is that-”
“Get back inside.” He nearly snarled, making her eyes widen in surprise before she glared at him. Much to his chagrin, she completely ignored him, staring at him with an unimpressed look instead. He handed her the cup, but she simply narrowed her eyes, as if not trusting his offering.
“You’re shivering.” He simply stated, nodding towards the cup once again. But Elide merely stared at it, as if not entirely sure what to do with it. Hellas, maybe he should’ve grabbed some soup instead? There was-
“You bought me hot chocolate.” She simply said, her brown eyes finding his once again.
Lorcan frowned. “Do you not like it?”
She shook her head, as if clearing her own thoughts before wrapping her hands around the cup. “No, I love it.” She smiled softly, and Lorcan felt himself relax the pleased tone in her sweet voice. “You can be a big softy when you want to, Lorcan Lochan.”
Lorcan grunted, not entirely comfortable with how his face seemed to heat under the weight of her appreciation. “Just get inside.” He muttered, holding out his hand to help her up, but she looked around instead. Lorcan stifled a sigh – wasn’t she cold?
“Where’s Fashara?” She furrowed her brows, ignoring his hand and his command.
Lorcan thought about putting Elide inside the carriage himself, but he doubted that would make things better. “At the stables.”
“So…” She trailed off and Lorcan shook his head, entirely too amused at her hopeful expression.
“Just get inside, El.” He sighed, warmth spreading through his body at the smile blooming in her lips. She held his hand, climbing up, her other hand still wrapped around the liquid chocolate.
He grabbed two gifts as she sat down – and if they were tagged for the Queen and King of Terrasen it would’ve been purely coincidental – handing them to a servant and sat down next to his mate. And as Elide snuggled against his body, her free hand reaching for his, the thought of being inside this walking torture device for over 12 hours turned much more appealing.
Sure, he wouldn’t show their cadre his horse and sure they would probably make fun of him for arriving in a carriage, but suddenly none of it really mattered. Not when his mate was cold, not when he was the only one who could possibly warm her up.
And as the carriage lurched forward, Lorcan eyed Elide – and if a small smirk painted her lips as she took another sip of the liquid chocolate, he was sure that was coincidental as well.
Disclaimer: I haven't written from Lorcan's pov before, so please forgive me if this interpretation of his character is way off.
Ever since Lorcan Lochan had lost Hellas as his guide, he counted his lucky stars, instead.
His wife, Elide, who could talk her way out of—or into—anything to which she put her mind, was the light who steered him through his darkest days; his son, who was small for his age, or appeared that way, at least—maybe Lorcan should acknowledge that he doesn't have a single clue about the average growth rate of a quarter Fae, part witch human—but managed to get into more scraps than he did classrooms kept him young, despite the centuries he could claim; and last, but certainly not least, his daughter, who had her mother's quiet grace and charm, and her father's ability with knives, had kept him on his toes more than anyone else throughout his long life.
They were his new guiding light, his family, and, although he knew he had found his people, he never would have predicted he'd ever be lucky enough to actually belong somewhere, to be wanted for himself, not simply for what he could do. The havoc he could wreak with his powers. He was still learning each day to accept as fact what Elide told him every night.
It was enough that he could craft a wooden play sword, or gently plaster a cut... perhaps in that order. It was enough that he could turn his shadows, magic that had wrought destruction and death across battlefields and continents—not always for good—into fun play-acts against the wall for his little children. It was enough that he could give a massage, or advice born from years of hardship and war and life with his old Cadre. It was enough that he was here. Home.

Valentine's Day Confessions
a/n: surprise i am alive ;)
Elide cursed as she grabbed the steaming hot popcorn bag from the microwave. The decadent buttery scent filled her cozy apartment as she poured it into her favorite mixing bowl. She was about to pour in the m&m’s when she remembered who exactly was joining her tonight - Lorcan. And her friend was not a fan of chocolate. If you asked her, the man simply had no taste.
It was Valentine’s Day and the pair had decided to have a singles awareness celebration. Since their entire friend group was filled with couples they were each other’s only source of company on this dreaded day. Truthfully, Elide despised Valentine’s day. Seeing countless couple posts on Instagram and stupid lovey-dovey shit everywhere only made her more bitter. She hadn’t had a boyfriend in a long time - too long. If she was being honest, she had always thought Lorcan would make a move on her one day. Though at this point, it had been years of banter and flirting with absolutely nothing else, so she had pretty much lost all hope. She would just have to accept that she would forever be in the friend zone, but of course, that was easier said than done.
She settled into the couch with her favorite stuffed animal when the doorbell rang. Lorcan, she assumed.
“It’s open,” she called.
“Elide, I could have been a killer,” Lorcan chastised as he took off his leather jacket and shoes at the front.”
“What killer rings the doorbell?” she shot back.
“Ok fair point,” he said, quickly settling down next to her.
“What do you wanna watch?” she asked, turning to Netflix.
Lorcan shrugged, “Your house your rules El.”
“Lorcan,” she grumbled. “You know I’m too indecisive for this.”
He had the audacity to laugh at her misery, “I know, but it’s funny watching you struggle.”
“I already know no romance movies. I’ve already seen enough lovey Snapchat stories to last a lifetime.”
“Agreed. Did you see all the shit Rowan and Aelin have been posting?” Lorcan asked with a laugh.
Elide laughed too. “Can’t be worse than Lysandra and Aedion.”
Maybe they were just cynical because they were both single, but at the moment Elide didn’t care. It was fun to joke around with Lorcan.
“Let’s watch an action movie then,” Lorcan suggested.
“John wick?” Elide asked, already clicking play.
Lorcan smiled, “Sounds like a plan.”
The movie had barely begun before Lorcan was shifting his massive frame to lay down, placing his head on Elide’s lap.
"Lorcan," she groaned. “You’re heavy as fuck.”
He mockingly gasped, “I’ll have you know I’m on a diet Elide Lochan.”
“It’s your absurd height, stupid,” she whacked him, but he was laughing the whole time.
“You’re warm,” Lorcan whined, sounding much like the five-year-olds that Elide taught every day.
“I have blankets right over there,” she said, gesturing to the basket overflowing with various throws.
Lorcan only stretched his legs out and adjusted himself on her lap. “If you don’t get up I’m gonna sit over there,” she said motioning to the new armchair she recently bought.
“When did you get that?” he asked, finally speaking.
“A few days ago because you literally take up the whole couch when we hang out.” She actually got it for decoration, but bantering with Lorcan was entertaining.
“You’re dramatic Lochan.”
“I’m dramatic?” Elide asked, as she stood. “I’ll show you dramatic.”
She walked to the armchair and plopped down crossing her arms and legs.
She was about to add another dramatic remark, but before she could she felt the chair give way. Suddenly, she was on the floor.
“Ouch,” she mumbled, once she registered the pain she felt on her ass.
“Elide, are you okay?” Lorcan asked, making his way over.
“Yeah I’m fine,” she muttered. “But I am never buying Ikea furniture again.”
In all honesty, it was probably her faulty building skills, but she was not going to admit that at the moment.
She tried to stand but pain shot up her ankle. She had landed on it weirdly, due to her dramatic crossed leg position.
“Wait for me Lochan,” Lorcan said as he carefully picked her up bridal style from the ruins of what once was her armchair.
“I could’ve walked,” she said softly against his chest.
That made Lorcan chuckle. “You were barely standing, El. You would have hobbled at best,” he said gently, placing her on the couch. "Let me get some ice. Your ankle already looks pretty swollen."
“I think it's just aggravated. Old wound,” she tried to say it with a smile, but it probably looked more like a grimace.
Lorcan’s eyes softened in understanding. “Ice won’t hurt though.”
Elide nodded and Lorcan took to the kitchen freezer in search of ice. He returned moments later with a bag of frozen peas wrapped haphazardly in a paper towel. He helped situate her ankle on a pillow so it was elevated and gingerly placed the bag on top.
“Shit that’s cold,” Elide couldn’t help but hiss.
Lorcan laughed softly and Elide smiled. Lorcan’s laugh was one of her favorite sounds. It was rare to see him smile and laugh openly when they were with their other friends, but when it was just them she saw it more often. She liked to think that it was because he was comfortable enough with her to show the real Lorcan.
“That’s the point, Lochan.”
“Get us some drinks, Salveterre,” she chuckled. “There is no better medicine than alcohol.”
“Whatever you say, boss,”
“I have a bottle of wine on the top shelf,” Elide called when she heard Lorcan rustling around.
“Got it,” Lorcan said, returning with a cup of wine. A cup.
“I was too lazy to find the glass,” he said in response to the look she gave him.
Elide stuck her tongue out at him before accepting the cup. “Let’s drink every time Keanu Reeves shoots someone,” she suggested.
“Elide, I think you would throw up if we did that.”
Elide rolled her eyes, “I’m not as much of a lightweight as I was in college, Lorcan.”
He raised a brow at her statement. “We’ll see about that."
As he expected, it had barely been 20 minutes, and Elide was already a giggling mess.
It only took 10 more for her head to fall on Lorcan’s shoulder.
And after another 10 minutes, Elide was onto the honesty.
She had hung out with Lorcan one on one many times, but nothing as intimate as a movie night on Valentine’s day where they were practically cuddling.
“Ok Salveterre truth or dare,” Elide slurred, turning to look at him.
“Elide the movie isn’t over yet,” he said pointing to the screen.
Elide gave him a look and paused the movie, “I’m too drunk to pay attention, plus we’ve watched this movie like five times,”
“Fine,” He laughed, giving in, “I say dare.”
“I dare you,” she said, poking him in the chest, “To kiss me.”
Lorcan almost spit out his wine. “Elide, you are way too drunk to be saying things like that.”
“I’m serious,” she said, setting her wine cup down for emphasis.
“I’ve wanted to kiss you since the day I met you, but you clearly only want to be friends.”
“Elide -”
“I know I’m not your type,” she said, her eyes dropping to the floor. “It’s fine, we can forget about this and blame it on the alcohol. It doesn’t have to be weird between us.”
She felt his hands on her chin, tilting it so they made eye contact.
“I’ve wanted to kiss you since the day I met you too. Elide Lochan, you are smart, kind, and pretty much out of my league in every single way. ”
She felt her cheeks flush at his admission. “Please just kiss me already, Salvettere.”
Without another word, his lips were on hers. Soft and sweet, a perfect first kiss, but she wanted more. She kissed him harder and opened her mouth. He took the hint, his tongue sweeping into her mouth. He pulled her closer, her heart was beating wildly against his.
Elide shifted so she was straddling his lap. She grinded against him and let herself get lost in the way he felt. The way he made her feel.
Lorcan shifted slightly as if he was going to lay her down. It would have been perfect, but Elide’s ankle turned too quick and she grimaced, breaking the kiss for a moment, but that’s all it took for Lorcan to pull back.
“Shit. Sorry, Lochan. I forgot about your ankle.”
“No I’m fine,” she panted breathlessly, trying to pull him back in.
“Maybe we should stop for tonight,” he said, brushing the hair from her eyes.
Elide grumbled, “stupid cock blocking ankle.”
Lorcan laughed again. “I can get you set up in your bed before I head out.”
Elide couldn’t help the pout, “Stay please?” she asked, wrapping her arms around his chest.
He smiled softly. “Anything for you, El.”
They readjusted on the couch so they were facing each other, this time cautious of Elide’s ankle. Lorcan pressed a soft kiss to her forehead and Elide tucked herself closer to his side. It wasn’t long before both of them became drowsy thanks to the alcohol and their heartfelt confessions.
And as Elide began drifting off to sleep in Lorcan’s arms, she knew this is how she wanted to spend every night for the rest of her life.
