Dear Followers, this week we will continue our Composer Portraits series with the creation of a young contemporary composer, here at Musica in Extenso. As you observed, this week celebrates a special event and an exclusive edition of our most-followed series, because this time we will have as a guest-editor “The Faceless Pianist”(E. L. Scott).
Today on Musica in Extenso:
Rebirth
1st Movement, Andante in E Minor
Originally, part of a larger composition which included "Rebirth 2nd Movement, Allegretto in B Minor", this piece marks my return to composition after an almost 10 year hiatus. As part of the larger composition "Rebirth", it initially included parts written for nylon guitar, flute, clarinet, cello, and violin. After struggling to balance these instruments and their parts, I decided to scrap my work, and break "Rebirth" down into the 1st and 2nd movements, as well as a prelude that would all be written exclusively for piano. This decision was based on my desire to master the fundamentals of composition by concentrating on one specific instrument. The challenge then became to funnel the main characteristics of all those previous parts into a piano piece which captured their essence without becoming convoluted or losing the main themes.
I accomplished this by splitting all the parts in to 2 categories: those which formed the simple, repetitive, and droning progression created by the guitar, cello, and violin and those which formed the delicate flowing melodies and harmonies created by the flute and clarinet. No easy feat for a composer with no formal training. The final product is a result of honing my skills in composition, theory, and notation. But most importantly, I had to learn how to properly compose for piano. From my return to composition to the final form of this piece passed about 2 years. For me this time was literally a rebirth of my own lost love of music, struggling to find my style and learn as much as possible.

ELSA KIRSCH + SCOTT MCCALL ✨
“ Isn’t it amazing how a person, who was once a stranger, can suddenly mean the entire world to you? ”
ELSA KIRSCH - FROM ASHES 🔥
“ So…” She began, running a hand through her hair which had long since been matted by the rain. “I just set on fire. That is a thing that just happened….and you guys? Well you’re all totally okay with it. Which is great, except it’s not because you should be freaking out, but you’re not, which is kind of making me freak out. ”
“She/He doesn’t understand you like I do.” for my loves elsa and scott
“He hates me.” Elsa flopped down onto Scott’s bed with a groan. She was talking about Stiles, who had been making snarky comments at Elsa’s expense for the past three hours whilst the pack had supposedly been engaging in an important pack meeting. Stiles, however, had clearly had more important things to be doing - namely getting on Elsa’s nerves.
“He doesn’t.” Scott said seriously, joining Elsa on the bed and capturing her hand, holding it against his chest. “He just doesn’t understand you like I do.”
He was being sweet, as always, and Elsa couldn’t help but smile. “Well hopefully he understands that if he makes another Frozen joke, i’m going to set every item of clothing he owns alight.”
“Oh he definitely understands that alright.” Scott laughed.
I just made a new elscott gif but the colours don’t fit in with the gifset I wanted to post so here u go enjoy a lone gif
"You wouldn't understand." for my precious Elscott<3
“You argued?” Elsa asked from the far side of Scott’s room, she was looking through the various photographs he had on his nightstand and he watched her carefully from his seated position on his bed.
“Sometimes.” He admitted.
“And fought?” She glanced over her shoulder towards him, “like physically?”
Scott glanced down, a smile illuminating his features. “Once or twice.”
“...and she slept with Isaac and you were...okay with that?” She turned to face him fully now, leaning against the chest of drawers and giving him a quizzical look. She wasn’t judging, not in slightest, she was simply trying to understand.
Scott looked up then, and frowned at her, defenses well and truly up as they so often were whenever someone mentioned Allison Argent to him. “I was happy for her. For them.” He said, his entire tone different to how it usually was when he addressed the petite blonde.
“I dunno, if it was me I...”
“It wasn’t you.” He said cooly. “You wouldn’t understand. You’ve never been in love with someone.”
Elsa blinked at him, stunned to silence.
“Els...I-I didn’t mean it like that.”

"He had you and he was going to hurt you, there was no choice to make." Elscott
“Scott...SCOTT!” Elsa tugged on the back of Scott McCall’s shirt, pulling him away from the hunter that had spent the best part of forty five minutes chasing the pair of them through the preserve. “Enough.” Elsa added sternly. Scott’s chest was heaving, his claws were still very much on show and pure rage was all that could be read from his face. Elsa turned him away from the, now unconscious, man and took his face in her hands, forcing the alpha to look her in the eye. “Calm down...” Her voice was soothing, and after a moment Scott relaxed.
“He had you and he was going to hurt you...” He babbled, attempting to justify his actions. He took Elsa’s hands from his face and inspected her wrists, which now bore angry red marks from the zip ties that had restrained her. “There was no choice to make.” He added as he pressed a soft kiss to the inside of her wrists.
Elsa’s stomach was doing back flips, as it often did whenever she was around Scott McCall, but her head told her that they had to get out of there - there would be time for other stuff later. “He wont have come alone, we better get moving.”
Scott was quiet for a moment, listening hard. Then he heard it, heartbeats, a whole group of them. He nodded once, taking Elsa’s hand in his own and taking off at full speed through the woods.
