Desert rock. Tiniariwan are nomadic Tuareg from Mali, and they are amazing.
What I’m listening to today: "Sastanàqqàm," off of Tinariwen’s upcoming album Elwan, out Feb. 10!
This song asks if there is nothing better than to have “your friends, your mount, and a brand new goatskin” and to journey across the sands of Ténéré by the light of the “four bright stars of heaven.” Wow. With a description like that and Boston’s recent snowfall, I’m almost tempted to join them!
