Elyse: that’s impossible, Sephiroth doesn’t have a crush on me!

Zack: Yes he does.

Angeal: Yes he does.

Sephiroth: Yes, I do.

Sephiroth: My future partner must be confident, intelligent, and nothing less than first-rate.

Elyse : steps on a worm and proceeds to drop to her knees and sob; apologizing while she takes it to the nearest patch of dirt.

Sephiroth: That one; I want her.

I got bored during work, so I sketched Elyse in a robed cloak cuz I had an idea. Here’s some lore I wrote if she was included in the original game:

Elyse became a fugitive after fleeing the incident of Nibelheim. She remains an ex-soldier on-the-run, and after an encounter with Sephiroth, seeks refuge, but refuses to lose her autonomy. She pledges help to Sephiroth, hiding amongst the robed men in order to gather more information about Shinra, their enemy, as long as he promises to keep her from being captured. In rare moments, the two of them do enjoy the other’s company, another testament to Elyse’s loyalty to Sephiroth as a person. Those who knew about their relationship have since passed, or hold fragmented memories, making their bond an unknown current in the background of the main story. Should the party encounter her in the Northern Crater’s secret tunnel, flashbacks of the past will appear.

If defeated in a secret battle, the only item reward offered is a pair of gloves that can be used exclusively by Tifa Lockhart.

Sorceress Gloves: These gloves allow any materia powers to be imbued into physical attacks, making elemental blow moves more accurate, and pure magic moves stronger in power. Made of brown, genuine leather, they seem to carry a story of another group of descendants; ones called sorcerers.

Crackcanon time: Dad Joke edition

Family AU! In which everyone lives and retires from Shinra. When Elyse and Sephiroth get together, she gets pregnant with triplets (iykyk):

*in the delivery room*

Doctor: Good afternoon, I will be delivering the babies today.

Sephiroth: I would prefer you let them keep their livers, thank you.

Elyse: *shocked, first time she’s heard him make a dad joke* 😱

Angeal: *proudly grinning form the corner of the room, starts laughing because he taught Sephiroth how to make a dad joke*

Domestic, Fluffy Elyroth tidbits, part 1 🥰

Days Off:

They both love sleeping in; it’s a feat to get either of them out of bed on mornings off

When they do finally get up, it’s for coffee, and they take their snuggles to the couch

Elyse does like to make breakfast when they have the time and energy. Other times, they both like to have a small something together and just cuddle on the couch

They highly value quality time like this, so sometimes it’s hard for them to get out of the living space on days off, unless their friends drag them to something on a free weekend

Seriously, they’re two introverts. It will take a lot to drag them out of the house (maybe not Elyse as much, but you know—)

Lots of naps/cuddles/quiet time where the two of them are doing different things within a few feet of each other

If Sephiroth is Reading, Elyse will often be listening to music with headphones on, or be playing a game on a device

Sometimes she’ll scoot over and peep at what he’s reading; she wants to know what he likes and what he finds interesting

Sometimes Elyse will be tending to daily tasks, and Sephiroth sneaks a peek at whatever she’s listening to or playing

Her taste in music is mixed, so sometimes, he’s surprised. When it comes to her games however, Sephiroth will sneak a chance to learn how to play, so that if they do play together, he knows how to beat her

Most days off they spend catching up on rest, maybe running an errand or two like getting groceries.

While Sephiroth may not know a lot about cooking, he loves helping Elyse with preparation, and listening to her yap about various cooking things, including random facts related to the food being prepared

She will fondly share memories of cooking with her mother, and silly little things that happened in her childhood

While he has mixed feelings about hearing such fond memories of a mother and their child, he sees how happy it makes her to share these personal stories with him, and he takes mental notes

Eventually, they will have cooking memories to share together 💙

Elyse also loves baking! Whenever she’s trying a new treat, Sephiroth is usually her first taste tester

If Sephiroth ever has to leave to attend to an errand, that’s when Elyse gets her speakers. She loves doing chores and mundane tasks to music, but is also mindful of her husband’s heightened senses

This has sometimes resulted in Sephiroth coming home to her dancing around in lounge clothes, with the goofiest smile

And every time, Elyse will get embarrassed, and he will have a field day teasing her for being so goofy

They do parts of their nighttime routine together, other parts separately so that they have the space to do it (like Sephiroth’s hair care; sometimes he’ll let her do it if he particularly craves her touch, other times he really wants control over his hair care)

Once they’re ready for bed, they wind down with more cuddles. Sometimes Sephiroth will bring a book to read, and Elyse will snuggle next to him

If she’s curious enough, he’ll read to her

Elyse loves the sound of his voice when he’s reading; it has sometimes lulled her to sleep if she’s tired enough

When the lights are off for the night, they snuggle in, and the ‘goodnights’ are exchanged with soft voices, and even softer terms of endearment (baby, love, honey, my love, darling, etc.)

Crackcanon time: Undercover mission

Elyse discovers that AGS are being sent undercover to Don Corneo’s mansion, dressed as women, and she panics, running to the Director.

Elyse: what do you MEAN you’re sending them to Don Corneo?! I could help!

Lazard: over my dead body, Lieutenant. I do not want any of our women to be compromised on this mission, especially you. The Firsts are best fit for this mission.

Elyse: but Sir-!

*the three of them walk in, all dressed in drag. Elyse’s jaw drops, and she immediately sees Sephiroth*

Elyse: *stuttering* it’s a good day to be bisexual— whaaat? That’s crazy— *runs away; then into a wall*

Genesis: *snickering; knew Elyse was going to have that kind of reaction.*

Angeal: *shocked, glares at Genesis* And how long have you known this?!

Sephiroth: *concealing mixed feelings nonchalantly.* She’s bisexual?

Elyse would definitely panic, because she doesn’t want them to experience the horror of being a woman through ✨Harassment✨. She cares a lot about her friends 🥺. Then she sees how beautiful they are, and experiences bi panic.

Angsty Dissidia Story? Angsty Dissidia Story.

I started playing Final Fantasy Dissidia recently (specifically NT), and I really like the idea that warriors are summoned throughout the same cycles, and they encounter each other time after time again. I also realize that in NT, Noctis and a few others are newcomers to the cycle, and it made me think about Elyse(OC), and I wondered: what if she got dragged into the cycle between Cosmos and Chaos?

Here’s a dribble of what that would look like:

(This takes place during one of the cycles before NT. NT’s cycle will have a different thing going on)

Elyse wanders the ruins aimlessly, looking for another sign of life or a person to call upon for guidance. It is then in the distance, she sees a familiar figure: tall, dark, and ethereal. The ominous, chaotic energy of where he stands wards her to stay away, unless she wished to be swallowed whole. However, the figure’s silhouette screams something familiar to Elyse, and her gut, yearning to find some familiarity to build upon, gravitates towards it. She approaches gingerly, and sees an ethereal one standing before her: silver hair, long and elegant like his sword, green eyes with pupils she hadn’t seen anyone else wear before, and a pale, muscular build. He was at least a foot taller than Elyse, if not more. While his size dwarfed her own, something in the air was egging her to talk to him. His face in the moment appeared neutral, but she had no idea of the tumultuous feelings that raged in him beneath.

“Who Are you?”

The words gut him internally like a fish, but he dare not show weakness, not here. It wasn’t his problem if she forgot her memories, so why should he care? He was on a quest to gain more power towards godhood.

Because you know her, and it’s not safe out here.

“Your enemy.” Sephiroth answers in a monotone voice. Every trained moment of represseing emotions was going into his tone, and only Gaia would know what happened if he even gave her a hint of who she is, and what she really means to him.

“Woah, I don’t mean any harm…” Elyse cautions, backing up.

“I’m just looking to get to a place called Cosmos Tower.” She adds.

Another dagger in his chest.

Of course Cosmos would summon her, he thinks.

“And I am a Warrior of Chaos. That would make us natural enemies.” Sephiroth responds.

Elyse didn’t like that answer. She could feel that the more he tried to shoo her away, the more she wanted to know why. Elyse’s brows furrow, put off by his coldness.

“Hey, I don’t want to start a fight,” Elyse reiterates. “I was just wondering if anyone else happened to be heading to the Cosmos Tower, but I see you are not. I will leave you be, then. Goodbye.” Elyse says firmly, turning with a quiet huff. Sephiroth wanted to put that attitude of hers to shame, to remind her who she’s talking to, but he stands there, silently watching the mage walk away. If Elyse was going to survive this war, he couldn’t afford to let her indulge in any weaknesses, even if it was the very thing he once found endearing about her. Conflict swirled within Sephiroth’s mind. A part of him was furious at how people got dragged into these things, and out of all the people who could have been summoned to serve Cosmos, it had to be her.

(Like many Dissidia characters: Elyse loses a good chunk of her memories upon the first time being summoned into a cycle, so she doesn’t remember Sephiroth yet 🥲 there’s gonna be a lot of angst in this series)
