Angeal is so hard to write Alto. He's really boring in CC.

Angeal is probably the clunkiest character in CC so I don't blame you. The man's a hypocrite in a lot of areas. And they gave him some of the absolute worst dialogue. So when it comes to writing him, you sorta have to fill in a lot of gaps.

When I'm writing Angeal, I model a lot of his traits and mannerisms off of my dad. Sensible. Kinda no-nonsense sometimes. Kinda gruff. Occasionally kinda thrifty and cautious. But with lots of room for genuine warmth and protectiveness as well. They say "write what you know". So I try to conjure a version of Angeal that feels familiar to me. You might have some other form of reference in your life that might make things easier.

Angeal DOES have a lot of recognizable personality traits, goals, and quirks. They're all there in CC. But execution more than often gets in the way of a good thing. So it's best to sorta mold things to your own liking.

Family AU! In which everyone lives and retires from Shinra. When Elyse and Sephiroth get together, she gets pregnant with triplets (iykyk):

I recently learned that Angeal has another hobby: photography. This makes a lot of sense for him--quiet, calm, artistic.

He's a big fan of aesthetically pleasing things (Sephiroth, Genesis, plants).

It's a hobby that is more expensive (on paper) than gardening and cooking, so maybe it's his one little indulgence after being poor.

I bet he had a treasured little disposable camera for years. Gen noticed, then handed down a digital camera that his mom was going to throw away because Gen "accidentally" dropped it, leaving a dent in the casing (and suspiciously just the casing).

You know this man has several SD cards filled to the brim with plant and food pics that he lovingly shows to any unsuspecting (or suspecting) victim, any chance he gets. Total proud dad vibes.
