♻ Any advice on improving Tumblr RP experience?
the hella sweet munday meme: Accepting!
Keep your rp spaces/circles small (whether it's private, selective, mutuals or friends only)
Curate heavily and block/blacklist freely. If someone makes you uneasy or if you don't like how someone rp's, block and don't interact.
Create, maintain and enforce your boundaries. If this means having a ton of rules, or curating heavily as in point two? Do it. Don't be afraid to say no to rp, to put limits on active threads, to say no to shipping, or to say no in general if things aren't vibing like you have hoped. Also don't be afraid to softblock or unfollow if you want to keep a small space or if you can't see rp happening anymore.
Disable anons. Normally I would say block/report/delete anons, but unfortunately we have had some sick fuckers making countless blogs to keep sending anons as a means of harassing/stalking/block evading others to start drama and stir the pot, so blocking/reporting/deleting doesn't really work anymore in these instances. Disabling anon completely and leaving it off is the only way to keep these sick fucks from ruining your health and space.
Take frequent offline breaks! This means logging out of tumblr to either rp in other spaces (discord, twitter, bluesky, etc), or to play video games, which is what I do! Take time to go on a walk, read a book, watch some movies, play video games. Whenever you feel down and shitty about your roleplaying or blog here in Tumblr, that is a surefire sign to take time away from the rpc and to focus on yourself. Self care goes a long way!
And most importantly: Focus on your friends and mutuals. Focus on the people you rp with the most and work to cultivate relationships, plots/interactions. It's so easy to get lost in the mindset of "I must follow everyone in the rpc because I'm missing out," that in doing so we forget the people who have been with us since day 1. By focusing on those closest to us, and who are our longtime partners, you will have more fun rp'ing than by spreading yourself think to interact with everyone under the sun. I know I've done this a lot and am still learning to put this into practice!
