I’m really trying to feel and experience the magic of the winter season. I often find myself resenting the cold bitterness of winter, but not this year! I am going to try my best to embrace the best parts of the season.

Embracing Winter for Joy
Breathing fresh air, getting exercise, and connecting with nature have been proven to be critical to our well being. Our connection to nature is strong and through interacting with the environment that surrounds us, we are empowered to live richer and healthier lives.
Skiing is one of many fun ways to spend time outdoors during the beautiful season of winter.

Another cold ski day. The sun was out though, and - go figure - the lift lines were short.
How to embrace winter
Winter is here... You think of stressful christmas shopping, muddy cold weather and the flu? Yes, thats one side of it. But there are also many wonderful things you can do only in winter! Here's what's on my list for the next months:
1. Read a really good book. I'm reading "The Fatherland Files" by Volker Kutscher (my favorite crime author).
2. Take a long winter walk. And by saying "long walk" I don't mean walking around the block!
3. Drink some Glühwein. Or even better: make your own Glühwein!
4. Donate. Make a donation for a cause that feels right for YOU (no matter if it's UNICEF, Wikipedia or your knitting circle).
5. Knit. If you don't know how to knit: learn knitting.
6. Cook something christmassy. Like a roast with mashed potatoes and vegetables. Yummy. And Pudding for dessert. And a nice bottle of wine.
7. Take a nice bath. With all the trimmings: candles, bubble bath and the newest episode of Grey's Anatomy.
8. Snuggle with your cat. You don't have a cat? I'm really sorry for you.
9. Think about 2013. What was awesome? How can you get more of it in 2014?
10. Surprise someone with a Thank-You-Gift. People around you do so many good things. It's time to say thanks.
Embrace winter before it's too late :-)
