Price's wife is pregnant. For the fourth time. Not a shock to any of the group, but you still were overjoyed at the new addition. The captain was so overwhelmed with joy that he carried around the first ultrasound picture everywhere - just not the war zone. You constantly got texts from Kyle's main phone that relayed the random ways Price found to bring up that unborn child.
It was cute how deep Price was nesting. Even organizing his office on base, even though the baby would never be anywhere near it.
You didn't know the Price family when they had their first three children, so you wanted to do your part this time around. A little birdie also may have spilled that Price's wife was heavily considering you as the Godmother, so you wanted to encourage her just a bit more.
You worked for a whole month, designing a full baby clothing set with one blanket. 141 was on a long deployment, and so this occupied your time while you waited with bated breath for Kyle to come home.
He always came home with far more bumps and scrapes than you preferred.
You made a bear themed baby set. Kyle told you one day that was Price’s nickname from his wife, and with the few times you met him, you could see the vision. So, soon enough you had onesies, hats, and a blanket that all had cute little brown bears all over.
Kyle nearly had a heart attack when he came home and passed the open door of your sewing room. He was so exhausted, he basically went brain dead and forgot about his captain’s predicament. He lingered in the doorway, eyes wide and heart stopped.
Oh fuck, he had ruined your surprise.
“Ky!”
You came out of your shared bedroom and bolted towards him, hugging him tightly.
Kyle’s words were in his stomach with his anxiety. He didn’t know whether to question you or greet you normally.
You beat him to it.
“Do you think the Price family will like it?” You asked, pointing to the baby stuff.
Kyle’s brain did a full halt and spun out. He was so sure in his assumption that hearing the truth made him faint. He really was sleep deprived, that didn’t help.
He swallowed thickly and nodded stiffly. He wasn’t sure if he was feeling disappointment or something else. Maybe Price’s nesting was wearing off on him, making him softer than he realized.
“Yeah, dove. Cap will probably cry.”
