Metra F40C #600 by trainphotoz on Flickr.
"Metra F40C #600 accelerates out of the north throat of Union Station, past CP CANAL.
The F40C was a locomotive unique to the Chicagoland Area. They were originally built for commuter lines operating over the former Milwaukee Road (and carried that road's markings and were numbered into their numbering scheme). They were six-axle (C-C) units, resembling shortened versions of the FP45 or SDP40F. They were retired in the early 2000s, however two (#'s 611 & 614) were reactivated in 2010 when Metra had a power shortage.
In the background is the CN&W corporate headquarters, vacated when Union Pacific took over. The building still stands, but has now been painted red and is of course condos."
