Trick or treat!

🍬 Treat! Here's some information about Uneasy Money, my latest plot bunny:

It's set in the same universe as The Case-Files of Seo Yo-han. Yo-han himself doesn't appear, Phil might, and Alec and Davit definitely will. One of the protagonists is Alec's cousin.

It starts in 1919 and continues until at least 1924. I'll basically pick and choose what I want from real history, and I'll handwave the differences by pointing out it's a WW1-less alternate history.

The main inspirations are The Last Chronicle of Barset and Downton Abbey. The title is borrowed from a P. G. Wodehouse novel.

The main characters' surname is Millner. This is because I recently bought an 1870(!) edition of Alfred Lord Tennyson's poems, and it has a signature from someone named Philip Millner who owned it in 1875(!!). So I've borrowed his surname for my OCs.

There are four, possibly five main characters: Gilbert (named after Gilbert from Anne of Green Gables), his sister Helena, their brother Eric, and their cousin Helena. (Yes, there are two Helenas. Yes, this is confusing for everyone. Including me; I think I'll give one of them a nickname. I can't change one of their names because a major plot relies on no one knowing which Helena Millner is involved.) The fifth main character is Thomas, who is blackmailing one branch of the Millners.

The plot revolves around a large sum of money that was supposed to be donated to the hospital. Helena was asked to deliver it, so when it goes missing she's accused of stealing it. (The truth: the other Helena "borrowed" it to pay off Thomas. Thomas says he got the money from "Helena Millner", but doesn't say which one.)

Hmm ... How about a freshly-made treat? Please excuse any sloppiness for this excerpt I just cooked up (TWs for language, some blood, and a hint at cannibalism ... although, is it cannibalism if it's some rogue Fae creature eating your vampire crew??):

Benji’s eyes fluttered open. Something still seemed off. Leech was in a pair of dark-colored slacks and a white shirt open to the chest. Both were soaked and sticking to his frame. He’d never realized his hands and feet were webbed before, but now there seemed to be claws extending from them. But the strangest thing were the black tendrils extending from his body. They seemed to move of their own accord, as if underwater. Even his kelp-brown hair floated around him. “Oh, that was real stupid of you, Olsen,” he said. “I told you, call me Slaughter,” Slaughter Olsen said. Leech’s eyes were all-black. Blood dripped from his mouth down his shirtfront. “Glad I only sampled those men of yours,” he said. “Figured I’d need to save room for you. You stupid fuck.”

6. which ocs eat consistent meals? which ocs just eat whenever they feel like it?

I think Red eats consistent meals but she's surrounded by people who don't and it annoys her (in a joking way). Zi, her partner, absolutely eats like pancakes at like 2 in the morning and Red does not get it.

11. which ocs have to be reminded to take breaks?

JIX FOR SURE! This guy absolutely has like three projects going on all the time and he'll be like working at his desk for hours and hours and then Carth will come up force him to eat or sleep.

26. which ocs never get sick? which ocs get sick easily?

I think Jix gets sick a lot cuz he doesn't take great care of himself well so he ends up sick (but he secretly adores it because it means that Carth will take care of him) and then Carth ends up getting sick as well. Mavex just seems like he wouldn't, like he got all the diseases he'll ever need when he was in jail and he's all done with them.

Find the Word tag game

another find the word tag game from @emelkae this time! :D my words were: fall, twist, ignore, and down. (I tagged you in the other tag game before I saw this so consider this a single tag? <3 ty ily)

FALL

I let my tears fall freely as I tried to peer through the fog. There wasn’t any time to notice which way I was dragged into the forest. I barely had time to look at the person that grabbed me. I wiped at my eyes with my clean hand and tried to see which way I should go to get back home. Only the almost full moon watched me wander aimlessly, sniffling like a child. I cringed and scrubbed at my eyes hastily again. When I removed my hands, I shouted and flinched back.

TWIST

I stumbled blearily into the dim bathroom. Everything smelt clean and sterile, the sink tap gleamed in the light when I flicked it on and the tiles were pleasantly cool against my feet. In the mirror, I looked like a mess; my long hair was in tangles and still had bits of forest stuck in knots, there were dark circles under my eyes, and traces of blood I had missed in the night streaked my cheek. The bandages came off easily, and bloody. I tried to twist around to see the cuts on my back but even if I moved in the most uncomfortable way possible, the swelling and bruising made it hard to tell what my attacker had actually carved into my back.

IGNORE

Sunday night, I was hurt and bleeding in the cold Greendale preserve. Monday morning, Mother reminded me about Greendale’s Festival than that afternoon I tried to ignore the creepy customer and the couple that was with him. Now, I’m sitting comfortably with an empty journal in my lap. How could I explain any of what happened? How could I find the words? I decided to reread my Sunday entry instead. The words were so peacefully ignorant of the pain that would begin barely hours later in the foggy night.

DOWN

“You are still going through withdrawals.” I wrenched the phone away from my face and snarled at him, letting my eyes flash orange the second time that day. “Then I will go through them alone,” I snapped. His eyes, if possible, turned steely and his pupils narrowed. I looked down the corridor at the two officers walking into the apartment and stepped against a wall, motioning inside the house. Jasper scrambled towards the window at my movements, fiddling with the lock I had.

Happy Blorbo Blursday! Kinda going off your question, where would your OCs fit in a supernatural AU (not the TV show lol unless you wanna do that). Would they be vampires? Werewolves? Ghosts? Some other creature? Or would they be monster hunters?

I think it would be really fun if in FSF the ones who died are ghosts and their loved ones are paranormal investigators trying to get them back. (Sorry I don't have much more than that, it's a low spoons day but I really wanted to answer this)
