Unfinished Project #2: Pin Banner

A couple weeks back, I listed all the unfinished projects that I wanted to complete. One of them was the pin banner. It was a simple two hour project or so I thought.

After borrowing my mom’s sewing machine, I started attempting to learn how to make bobbins. 

Following the instructions and YouTube videos online. I made a bobbin. It was meh, but it worked. 

I did some test runs. I am not sure what I set the sewing machine at, but I know for sure now that I set something wrong. This led to several hours of sitting at the machine running then untangling the thread. 

Hours later, the projected started running smoothly. 

The first banner came out poopie with crooked threads. The second one came out better. 

I also had company through my frustration. I don’t think he was in the best spot for me though. 

After sewing the banner, I used some hemps to make a hanger from one end of the stick to the other end. I wrapped the hemp several time around and use a needle to make knot through all the loops together. 

And now it’s done and ready to be hung!

I have a lot of pins that I collected over the year through PAX, Fanime, Anime Expo and just shopping online. 

It looks messy, but I think it’ll eventually fill up nicely as I get more pins. Haha.

I’m a going to make stuff

I have probably been making “stuff” all my life. I draw. I paint. I plant. I crochet. I embroider. I craft. I make. 

I think my hobby could be categorize as “collecting hobbies”. I always like trying new crafts and new patterns. It always ends in a lot of unfinished projects. 

The goal of this blog? 

To motivate myself to finish all my unfinished projects. 

To start new projects and talk about my process of how I made it.

To learn and improve my skills. (Mostly on crochet and drawing.)

To inspire others to create their own projects. (Many of my ideas are usually inspired from looking at other people’s creations.

To have fun!

So you might ask, what are these unfinished projects? Well not to worry, I’m listing them out so I remember them myself for future reference. 

1 Christmas C2C Gift

My ongoing (two year ?) Christmas gift blanket project that I have left untouched until recently. It’s C2C project that I thought I could finish in less than two months when I first started it (HA!)

To give you an idea of how massive it is, it’s 119 x 129 corner stitches and 4″ = 5 corner stitches. Currently I am only at the 79th row of this blanket. . . The plan is to finish it this year so I can finally give it to my parents.

2 Pin Banner

Banner to hang my pins. I have a lot of pins. I started this project way back in March 2018. Why did I stop? I debated about hand sewing vs machine sewing. You can guess what I chose. (Hint: The faster one.) 

Now I just need to borrow my mom’s sewing machine so I can finally finish this and another one for my brother. 

3 Sophie’s Universe

Oh, Sophie’s Universe... I love this project, but I really can’t just watch dramas/anime/tv shows and make you at the same time. When I work on this project, it’s usually just Sophie and music. 

According to my instagram post, I started this back in June 2016. #somuchforcantwaittofinish. 

4 Miniature UP House

My miniature UP house. I bought this on Amazon about two years ago. Why did I stop? The instructions required a cm ruler to measure out the curtain size. I couldn’t find one in my house that day and put it off for two years..... 

5 My Side TV Project

My side C2C project. Remember how I said I can’t watch tv while working on Sophie’s Universe....well this is my tv crochet project when I want to make stuff while watching tv.
