My emerald weapon kitbash is fully built now. She is ready for priming/painting.
She is soooo much bigger than my 30mm ruby weapon kitbash haha. Big sister emerald.
She still needs barnacles but that'll be made & added later.

I wanted to get soooo many things done this past weekend, but time kind of just got away from me!
I really wanted to finish this drawing, which still needs some changes, additions, shadows, and highlights. I might not get to finish this week, but I'll post the WIP.
Here I am with my favorite Strat (yes, I'm short!). I've dubbed her "The Emerald Weapon." She's a Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition '59 Stratocaster (New Old Stock) in Sherwood Green Metallic. Isn't she gorgeous?
If there is one thing that I distinctly remember terrifying me when I played the original FF7, it was coming face to face with Emerald WEAPON while using the submarine.
So here it is for today's drawing. OwO

Vierapril Day 14: Favourite Duty
I'm fond of all the Weapons trials, but Emerald Weapon really felt like the first Trial in the game where they really cranked up the difficulty, and I loved it from my first run to current day! The second phase's music has NO right to go so hard, it's just such a cool trial, all of it, and my favourite fight of the Weapons! I adore a lot of trials but this one remains up there whenever someone asks me which I like best.
Unable to be reasoned with.
Y'all, I just noticed something. Take a look at Emerald Weapon from FF7 (pic courtesy the FF7 wiki). Particularly, its legs/feet:
That's a very unusual shape for creature legs/feet! You don't really see that kinda thing every day.
But you know who else drew weird leg/feet shapes like that?
Wayne Barlowe. Check out his emperor sea strider (image from the Alien Species Wiki):
Now of course it could be coincidence, but I still can't help but wonder if there was a little influence from Barlowe.
Anybody out there know anything?

Alright, so. I'm going for 100% completion on this run so I'm going to have to take down the Emerald and Ruby Weapons.
In preparation I grinded for around 5 days straight, getting every character to max level, also getting them to the health, MP and damage hard caps. I got all their final Limit Breaks and their ultimate weapons. I spent far too long breeding chocobos to get a golden chocobo so that I could acquire the strongest summon in the entire game. I grinded all of my materia to mastery. I got the best accessories.
I decided to start with the Emerald Weapon first, the weaker of the two. Went in with the Ultima-Quadra Magic combo, Phoenix and Knights of the Round Table summons and every healing and support magic possible on two characters, and for the remaining character full physical power, Mega All, Deathblow-HP absorb-100% accuracy combo and a billion counter attacks (in addition to making them as tanky as physically possible). Any remaining empty materia slots I filled with maxed out Speed Ups. The fight began. I cast full party haste, regen and magic & physical barriers then started throwing everything I had at it.
It squashed me like a bug inside five turns.
I took 10 more attempts. They ended similarly.
I hurt.
