“Wait!”

Wisty bursts out of the bathroom.

“Emery, where is he?”

Cyn’s mouth opens, but no words come out.

Without another word, Wisty bolts down the stairs to the basement, to Leslie and Emery’s bedroom.

“NO!”

Even Thistle is shocked from their grief at Wisty’s uncharacteristic outburst. But the impact of her shout hardly has the time to settle in as they realize what it means.

The Blue Generation is gone.

I still don’t know why elders, specifically, are so compelled to sleep in the hot tub.

Leslie: Has anyone seen Emery?

Thistle: Last I saw, he was headed to the hot tub.

Leslie: He’s asleep!

Thistle: That’s hilarious! 

Wisty: He could DIE, Thistle!

Had an easy way into policing, as it was his father’s profession.

Leslie was his mentor for his first week on the force, and it took Emery a while to piece together whether the awkwardness was from their combined introversion or because Emery wanted to know him better. 

Those feelings, however, didn’t go anywhere until Emery started having landlord problems. After hearing about them at work, Leslie offered Emery his spare bedroom. Emery felt like he was living in a fanfiction. 

As usual, Emery expected that he would be making the first move, but Leslie surprised him by asking for a coffee date. 

The affection between them was more than enough for Emery. Eventually they made their relationship official, and started planning for marriage once they reached elderhood. But Emery was never bothered, and neither was Leslie. 

Once the pair moved in with the rest of Leslie’s family, Emery committed his life to art full-time. 

Emery and Thistle have different approaches to art, which means many a friendly disagreement among praise for each other’s work.
