hey guys

hello everyone. it’s been a while, hasn’t it? I haven’t been active on this account since... march maybe? yikes. But it’s a new year (2021 baby!) and i felt like i had to finally had to explain my long ass hiatus.

why did you go on hiatus?                                                                                     honestly? i lost all my interest in sanders sides. the long gaps between episodes made it hard to keep interest, and most of the recent content just made me,,, sad? i started watching the series, honestly, because it was a feel good show. there was conflict, but it got resolved by the end of the episode. however, the more recent videos haven’t reached that resolution, and the longer the wait, the longer it feels like the conflict was never-ending. (if that makes sense!)

will you come back?                                                                                               probably not? my interest in the source content has faded. i almost came back when the flirting with anxiety video came out but even that didn’t give me any inspiration. also,,, the astrosphere of the fandom is just,,, kinda bad?? the purity culture, the refusal to acknowledge the racism within the fandom, and the recent events with thomas in the animators... all of these events have kinda made me too uncomfortable to rejoin. however, i might try to continue writing ashes ashes!

final words?                                                                                                             for my fellow writers: if a poc (or any other minority group) criticizes a portrayal/character/anything else within your writing, you apologize, correct the mistake, and do research so you avoid it the next time. don’t make it about yourself, and don’t make the same mistake again. 

for my fellow content consumers: if a poc (or any other minority group)(or anyone, actually, but this is specific)  criticizes your favorite creator’s behavior they are not trying to “ruin the content” or “cancel the creator.” that creator has made a mistake, they continue the same behavior they have ruined their own content. it is not the ‘whistleblower’ (for lack of other term)’s fault. 

fanders: stop defending every single one of thomas’s actions. he’s a thirty year old white man. don’t baby him, ESPECAILLY with the animators. he makes mistakes, and he can face those mistakes without you attacking anyone who criticizes him. 

those, of course, these don’t apply to everyone but. if the shoe fits, change yourself so it doesn’t anymore.

hello everyone! remember that time i talked abt writing a mini essay on the parallels between byakuya and mondo and then proceeded to Not Do It? I’ve gone back to it and I’m actually working on it! and honestly. it might spiral into the five “leadership” kids (mondo, byakuya, taka, sonia and fuyuhiko) and the particular burnout that comes with leadership, especially inherited leaderships. or maybe they’re two separate essays,,,,
