+ TARQUIN / LEAVING ASPHODEL

Emine looks up from her phone just in time to stop herself from walking straight into – oh. "Tarqi. Hi." She blinks up at him, taking a half step back to give him space at the top of the steps. Behind her, Sinan peaks his head around, likely searching for Athena. "I wasn't looking," the witch explains even though it's quite obvious she hadn't been. "I uh...I thought you were planning on going back to England this summer?" Emine asks before realizing how it sounds and clearing her throat. "I mean, I just haven't seen you around and," she pauses, shaking her head. "I just thought...I assumed you'd left." But she hadn't been at the institute much of late either, finding that it's comforting presence was not longer as comforting as it had been before Elif.

Now she went for therapy and sessions to help her stuttering magic, but steered clear of group sessions or courses. Which might explain why she hadn't seen him. Never mind the fact she'd picked up some more shifts at the hospital to give her something to do with idle time, and the fact that she'd not asked anyone about him because she didn't want to seem like one of those girls who was always checking in on her ex. She wasn't, but ever since the charity gala, she'd checked in on a lot of people. Just not...him. But she figures someone would've said something if things were bad. And they hadn't, so she'd assumed...and had made a point not to look at his social media, so she couldn't confirm. Not that she wanted to confirm. She just...thought it best not to. That's all.

"But uh, do you think you'll stick around for the summer then? No more clubs in Greece on the horizon?" She attempts for some levity, realizing that she's not accosted him a bit on the steps and clears her throat as Sinan makes a sound like a snort. "Sorry, you were heading out?" Oh, why did you say it that way? You're leaving too! Emine presses her lips together, tucking her phone away with a slight huff. "Sorry, don't mean to, you know, twenty questions you..." @rviner

+ OPEN / CHARITY EVENT

"Oh, yes, don't worry – I'll be sure to tell them you came. It'll mean so much," Emine tells the stranger she doesn't quite recognize but who'd felt compelled to interrupt her conversation to give well wishes. Your brother said such lovely words about Elif. I was certainly moved. She'll be missed. The witch nods again, swallowing to keep a bright smile in place. "She will. Definitely. Thank you." She waves goodbye when they finally retreat, and returns her focus to her companion. "Sorry, what were you saying?" Emine asks, trying to focus on them and not the thick lump in her throat. "Oh, right," she snaps her fingers, "the vase? Are you going to bid on it?"

+ FELIX / PINK PARTY

"Ohp, sorry – oh, Felix." Emine's apology for bumping him slightly quickly turns to a brighter tone. "In my defense, there's like...a lot of very tall people here tonight." He gestures around them at the pink giraffes around the penthouse space, "and not everyone sees us down here," she chuckles, having been jostled most of the night as she makes her way through the crowd. "Here, here," Emine waves down one of the servers with a tray of champagne flutes and picks two off for them, offering one to her friend, and her best friend's now fiance. "Congrats on, you know," she wiggles her ring finger, knowing that neither of them want to make a big deal of it, especially at a party with hundreds of people. So instead, she settles on a warm smile, her excitement still evident in her bright gaze. "I'm really, really happy for you both." There's no better couple around in her opinion, and no one luckier than Felix to have Bella in his life. @manybcdthings

+ YAS / THRIFT/ANTIQUE SHOP

"These are cute, right?" Emine asks Yas, holding up two dinner plates for the shifter to see. "You know for a cute dinner party on the patio or something. They're fun." Said even as she sets them down again because she doesn't need more dishes and, really, the thrift store visit is more of a distraction than anything. Life has been a whirlwind of late and Emine's tried to keep up connections she's made in the past year, but with....everything, she's found it harder than normal. Which is why she'd impulsively reached out to Yas in the first place, trying to reconnect. "I got my cutting board from here. You know that giant wooden one? So they've got great finds if you know what to look for." She says, nodding as they continue down the aisles of stacks and baskets and bins. "They've got some paintings in the back too, if you want to look at those?" @waterfallswords

+ FELIX / CONVENIENCE STORE

"I wasn't suggesting you get her a ring or anything. Just some candy," Emine scoffs at Felix as they walk through the aisles of the meticulously curated convenience store. It's a shock to see so many familiar names, and some not so familiar, probably Canadian, brands. The fact that shelves are full is the most shocking bit, and the fact that they're filled with things they'd actually want to eat is as well. "Her favorite are skittles. In case you wanted to know," she volunteers the information with a smirk and points to the sour ones, "we used to go to the bodega down the street and get a shit ton of sour candy, trying to find the most sour sour. The lime ones were pretty good but not perfect." @manybcdthings

"No, no, please, go on." Emine waves a hand, swiveling in her seat as she tries not to laugh at Bella's expression. "I'm listening. I'm just waiting for the part where you say you didn't expect it to happen," she twists in the chair again, clearing her throat. "You know, like how you didn't expect it to happen with Armand." Emine gives her best friend a knowing look, nodding at her to continue. @rviner

"Okay, c'mon, Rosieee," Emine giggles with her cousin now that their moms have all wandered away. "Does he do that thing?" She waggles a brow, taking a sip of her champagne before gesturing, "you know, with his tongue?" Another laugh and she bumps her cousin with her hip. "He looks so cute tonight too. You both do.
