"I just started last month. I'm the new night guard at the old archives," Rumi explained.

He tilted his head and looked at her from a different angle. "Aren't you… too young to be a security guard?"

"I'm old enough! How old are you?" Rumi snapped back.

"Fifteen and five months," he boasted.

Ha! She was fifteen and six months, so he was one month younger than her.

She won.

"Yeah. It shows," Rumi snarked from the lofty high-horse of maturity that being one month older provided. She drew herself up to her full height, lowered her voice so it would sound more gravelly and made a dismissive little gesture. "Beat it, kid."

"I kinda feel like you have to be taller to pull that off," the guy smirked. He sauntered over to stand next to her, not so subtly comparing their heights. "Maybe wait until your next growth spurt, champ."
