Last summer I fell head first into the wonderful world of CrissColfer Fan Fiction on FF.net. 16 months later I have accounts on FF, LJ, AO3, ITC, S&C, F&F (Fancy & the Fury) and so many LJ communities its almost frightening.
I read about CrissColfer, Klaine, Kurtofsky, KurtBastian (and most recently Teen Wolf/Sterek) - and to be quite honest I have read at least a handful of most ships out there (including Kinn, Puckurt, HummelBerry) and as long as its not incestuous (okay for I was once attached to the Handerson Fourgy I admit it) if the story intrigues me. I will read it.
16 months ago I was a very green straight but not narrow person. I spent the first 3 months on FF sporting a blush with my eyes bulging out my head. I learned more about gay sex in 2 weeks reading fan fiction than I probably ever would in my life time without it. Things I initially thought were 'out there', odd or just plain gross have become a part of my sexual repertoire (role play, restraints, rimming) and you know what -- that's pretty cool. After being a repressed Catholic School girl well into my 30s I am finally starting to enjoy my sex-capades. I unfortunately live in a very homophobic society/country, but my immersion into this culture (and presence on Tumblr) has enabled me to be more open about my beliefs to my family and friends. These are things that the fan fiction writers have given me, as well as hours of entertainment and some sweet day and nocturnal dreams. And I just want to tell them all thank you. There is no way I can list my favs without forgetting someone, but I try to comment often and let you know how much your writing means to me.
