Author Appreciation
There are so many fanfic writers in the Glee fandom I could thank--dozens and dozens of them--but I'd be up past my bedtime typing a list on this fiddly touchscreen keyboard. So instead I will single out one, the one responsible for getting me into this fandom in the first place: wordplayitout. Not long after 2.16 aired, lettersfromtitan posted a rec list of Kurt/Blaine fics, among them "Blaine's Birthday 2015" by wordplayitout. I clicked on it because it came from a trusted source, and holy hell was I glad I did. That level of hot is hard to top to this day for Kurt/Blaine fics for me. Naturally, after that I had to read the rest of the stories from that series and then all of the other Glee stuff by her as well. It was time well spent. Of course, I went on to discover many other talented writers and hundreds of lovely/hilarious/painful/touching stories. But. wordplayitout's stories have qualities about them--the dialogue, the understanding of certain character dynamics, the family relationships, the surety of letting the narrative take a moment to breathe and not rush to the next--that bring me back to them time and again. That invite me to re-read and experience them in new ways each time. (and of course the scorching hot sex. duh.) So thank you, wordplayitout, for giving me hours and hours of enjoyment. The last line of the Appropriate Visuals series is still one of my favorite last lines of any story I've read.
