Jem sat by her small fire listening to the sounds of the woods at night. The crackle of the fire, the song of cicadas, and the occasional hoot of an owl. As was common for Jem this time of year, she sat by her fire waiting for one of two things to happen. One, morning would come and Jem would continue bringing autumn to the area. Two, a traveler or local wanderer would stop for the warmth of the fire and maybe a story or two.
