The look of pride that was on Dimitri’s face quickly shifted to that of surprise when Emmalee called him out on his, in her words, ‘bull-honkey’. He looked at her with a raised eyebrow, strumming on the instrument in his hands a bit more before he gave a response.
“‘Said I couldn’ remember what tha ghost said. I knew the resta it! I ain’t no liar,” he insisted, turning over some radscorpion chunks that he had left to roast over the campfire, “’S a true story...”
His voice had a dejected tone to it. Even if he hadn’t mentioned the jet that was, at some point, involved in his little tale, he was still pretty firm in his belief that he had actually seen some sort of phantom.
Leaning on his banjo, he huffed, staring Emmalee right in the eyes, “Do ya got somethin’ better?”
