Adding to the Legally Blonde Musical/ Zutara AU!
Okay, so I had another one! I am not sure if I want to do the entire scene of text but this was just too cute to pass! (Context, check out the song “Take it Like a Man” - a bit dated of a title, but just roll with it)
So Katara and Zuko are talking after Katara gets her client to talk about an alibi for the case she is an intern for. (Not sure who the client would be.) Still, Katara is stubborn about losing the trust of the client and the head of the firm that brought her on is pissed off at her and Zuko for not comply to giving it.
Zuko, in this case, is a recent graduate that is working as a TA for the head of the firm that teaches. And while confident in his skills, because he had to work a lot to get where he is, he is not the most caring of his looks so long as he gets results. (Think tired graduate that only has a hand-me-down suit that he bought at a bargain bin to make ends meet.) Because of this, he gets put down a lot and Katara knows that he could be more if he has the ability to dress the part a bit better.
So, she takes Zuko to a store and offers to help him get something that will help bring the confidence out from him. Zuko has an inner monologue about feeling unsure, but willing to trust her with this. Through the song, Zuko is fussing a little about clothes while Katara is gushing about shopping for men. (The interactions is worth to listen when you get a chance.) In the end, Zuko gets a suit that makes him look well put together. He remarks he looks like Katara’s ex but says it’s just him, even with the suit.
Katara correct him that while it looks new to him, it only brings out the confidence and skills that she knows he has as a lawyer. He wants to say no to the gift, but Katara tells him that it is payment in kind for taking a chance on her when on one would. And while she is buying it for Zuko, he has an inner monologue again: “Not quite the guy, I’d chose to be. But when she’s standing so close to me, I think I like her plan.”
I can’t tell you all how much this idea makes me gush! I might have to add this to my story idea counter. Hope you all are enjoying it.
please make me the happiest woman i know!!!
