Emmie’s Theme

Hello all! I am glad to announce that I have been composing and producing a bunch of music for @lydszo‘s project The Back Yard! It’s an animated story set in a 1930′s circus, it’s real cool. You should follow her for progress and art and stuff, there’s some really great stuff on her blog. Go see it! Anyways, I’ll keep this short, this is Emmie’s Theme.

I think about Bobby’s probably hilariously poor decision to adopt a child a lot. I also find myself in a never ending arms race with myself to draw baby-Emmie as hilariously frilly and curly as possible.

The bottom picture is her first Halloween where she nagged enough to be allowed to dress up and go trick-or-treating. Hitting up the various tents and trailers on the circus lot, she ends up with a lot of chewing tobacco, gin and leftover sandwich halves in her bucket, but she has a really good time anyway.

Theda is by far the least nurturing person in the circus, but given that she’s an older lady people keep mistaking her for one. Emmie definitely got shuffled off on her a lot as a kid when Bobby was having a late night.
