#empathy stuff

so... like, i get the sentiments of “man, fuck empathy-centric morality” and “man, fuck empathy-centric compassion”, etc, and honestly, i’m pretty on-board with them myself as a low/no empathy person?

but something that does kinda really need to stop is the conflation of “people with empathy” with “people who subscribe to empathy-centric morality/compassion”.

cause when you do that, it’s grouping in, for example, hyperempathetic people with that rather nt-centric perspective.

hyperempathetic people, who, it’s worth keeping in mind, get their own brand of crappy treatment from the “empathy centric morality” people.

they don’t deserve to be made the butt of jokes, and otherwise mistreated, by other empathyweird people.

Empaths be like:

I wilk have an open heart but prefer little to no open heart surgeries.

I.e. I have to reaffirm what's right for my boundaries and our vibrational similarities before/after/between what I am able to give and also receive as well as heal with and from.

Preferably on my terms with regards to stuff and things.

Read as: if there's an ocean of healing trauma, be aware of what ships have sailed, what harbors it's been in and what port that ship is leading to, and try to avoid making someone you love walk the gangplank when they're trying to batten the hatches.

all the highly empathetic people i know in my life have had abusive home lives and that’s because we were trained to read a situation at any given moment in our homes and learn how to react within seconds because if we didn’t and said or did the wrong thing, we’d get fucked up and beat and hurt

but like subconsciously always reading the mood of any atmosphere or space you’re in, always being able to gauge how people feel, it’s not a fucking gift, it’s exhausting. you can’t turn it off, even if you want to. you read the situation and if it’s negative, you freak out because if someone’s angry at you, it’s the end of the world

like we’ve internalized the scars from our childhood when an adult being mad at you was the worst thing ever and it’s carried with us into adulthood. it’s hard to unlearn all that.

so like a lot of us have mental health or anxiety issues because we also start internalizing all the energy from people, be it positive or negative, and so anxiety-inducing and frustrating to the point of tears
