Confession: I want to let Vaylin rest her head on my chest as we fall asleep in an obscenely luxurious bed after her becoming Empress, and when she has a nightmare in the middle of the night, when she wakes up screaming and crying, I want to hold her close as she rests her hand over my heart to anchor herself to the vibrations, and hum tuneless sounds to ease her mind and lull her into more pleasant dreams. Then wake up to her cuddled up to me with the first easy smile on her face she’s had in years.
