How do you think the Gloria experience affects Marinette? Was it a learning experience? A tiring experience?
Not very good.
Marinette doesn’t start out with her support system like she does in Origins. Alya becomes best friends with Lila (or so she thinks), Lila has Tikki, and Marinette is largely left on her own to deal with Chloe whenever Chloe wants to be mean to her. She actually moves further into the back of class, either sitting next to Ivan or Nathaniel.
At the start, Lila leaves Marinette alone, more focused on Adrien and Chloe, one to pursue, the other to sabotage since Chloe’s a certain rival to rule the school, and its this game of politics that leads to Marinette getting on Lila’s list. Lila’s thrives to win with popularity, but when approaching Marinette, who she thought would be an easy sheep to manipulate, she found a girl on edge, on that can pick up that something was off and didn’t like Lila. Initially, Lila wanted to dismiss this and overlook it, this girl was a nobody, it didn’t matter if she wasn’t on Lila’s side, she wasn’t on Chloe’s side either and that was fine. Her ego was annoyed, but that was ok. She could get past this, let it go.
And then Marinette made her fatal mistake.
She pointed out a lie Lila told, thoughtless questioning her claim.
And if there’s one thing Lila can’t stand, its her deceptions exposed. Its when Marinette becomes an official enemy, with Lila turning a lot of the class against her, using Gloria to make hints that Marinette causes a lot of problems; and Marinette finds herself largely alone and wearily regarded till, with very, very few willing to be near her.
She does not have a fun time in Gloria au.
Thoughts on the newest miraculous ladybug episode? Specifically Bunny!Alix?
On the whole: YAAAASSS
The past two episodes have finally given us some growth (tho I’m still pissed from a Doyleist standpoint about Chloe not being QB anymore), and it was nice to see some more focus on the rest of the class. The pocket watch was weird tho, especially since Thomas said not every fantastical item was a miraculous about the watch specifically.
So, I liked the meta and the growth overall :)
Omg you watch mpgis too? I freaking love those girls!! I've watched literally every episode!
Me too!!!!! Each season gets even better than the last somehow <3 <3
I've probably said this before, but your supernatural aesthetics are the best I've ever seen! They always inspire me to write whenever I see them. Thanks so much for sharing them! ♥️♥️♥️
Wow, I realize now I should clarify. I meant your superpower aesthetic mood board series! So sorry if there was any confusion about my last ask!
Thank you so much! It’s a huge compliment!
10 for Alexander, and 83 for Fledge!!
(link to prompt) I wrote both! thank you so much for the prompt!!!
10. wind chimes
Alexander had never been to Mooshu before. From what few stories he remembered his parents telling, while his mother had grown up in Mooshu like all her family before her, she ran away to elope with his father, and that was their fairy tale ending, a dashing young trader from Grizzleheim sweeping the poor farm girl off her feet, when she was supposed to be simply delivering her family’s harvest alongside her rather awful siblings.
And that was the end of it, Mooshu was always spoken of in past tense, over bedtimes in the Captains’ Quarters, as long as Alexander could remember, until he was left in Skull Island, and his parents had gone missing.
Now he was here.
Subodai was at his side by the wheel, an eagerness lighting his eyes in a way Alexander had never witnessed. They sailed the windlanes in that strange celestial space between worlds, and Alexander’s heart began to race.
Alexander had never been one for nervousness. It simply wasn’t a part of him, something Bonnie Anne thought he needed, considering how ‘shameless’ he acted at times.
As they neared ever closer to Mooshu, where they would be spit out of a stormgate, Alexander found himself blurting out his thoughts.
“Do- Do you think I would’ve belonged there-” He started, voice cracking, before looking pointedly away from where Subodai stood, “In Mooshu?”
Subodai huffed, one hand on his sheathed sword, staring towards his home world. “I do not know, Captain. As you are now, forgive me, but you are the epitome of a Skull Island pirate. You would be shamed, humiliated for daring to be yourself as you are.”
Alexander stared down at the wheel, watching his knuckles pale with the force of his grip as they sailed ever closer to Mooshu.
Subodai put a hand on Alexander’s shoulder, looking him in the eyes, gaze soft. “Alexander,” He said quietly and sternly as he said his captain’s given name for the first time, “If you had been raised among your mother’s people, you would still be you, simply reserved, less flamboyant, because those qualities are only acceptable in those with enough money. I am sure you would have been raised well, but we cannot dwell on our pasts, Captain, hypothetical or not. We both were jailed in Armada cells for a reason- so our meeting was one of urgency and fear, but to have not met you then, Captain, to not have gone on our quests now, neither of us would be who we are now.”
Alexander simply nodded.
Subodai straightened, mouth set in a familiar grim smile. “I will never know, Captain, how it feels to be so estranged from one’s culture. I was raised in my own, and I do not know what kind of warrior I would be today without it. I hope you find the solace you seek in Mooshu, but when one is looking for something so nebulous, all you may find is people who share your features, but with no matching words in the entirety of your story. However, this kind of grief is not where you will find your mother, Captain.”
They entered the stormgate, ship swirling in a strange dance as everything went black, until Alexander opened his eyes again and was staring out at the red setting sun of Mooshu, the blue sky the pink tinged banks of rising clouds, and he felt weak in the knees.
No one on the ship spoke until they reached Hamimitsu. There, on the docks, were moving traders and pirates alike, the rambling of several languages, the rumble of carts and booted feet on wooden planks.
Wind chimes were hung on the large posts with lanterns as well, and the sky’s breeze made the metal and wood collide musically, a pleasant welcome as Alexander disembarked. He only wanted enough crewmates with him to fight if things went south, so only Bonnie Anne, Sarah Steele, and Subodai followed him, the rest staying onboard.
Alexander found himself taking a deep breath, eyes closed for a moment. He had a plan. He was going to find another piece of the map to El Dorado, find another piece of his parents’ story. He just had to move.
So he did. He walked down the docks, shoulders back, a commanding presence, and others stepped out of his way, and he paid them no mind.
83. getting water in your eyes
Fledge came up gasping for air, shaking their head, the clacking of beads setting them on edge, rubbing water from his eyes. It was the first time in, well, a while that they had taken the time to completely bathe, only because they had been moving so quickly through what was supposed to be difficult, that they had no time to breathe until now.
This out of the way pond in the middle of a Mooshu bamboo forest was the perfect place to stop and rest, and take a proper bath like they were used to from growing up in Grizzleheim. Fledge had even spent time in the large marketplace in the Emperor’s city, picking up soaps, candles, and some very pretty jade beads.
They loved Mooshu. The people were respectful of what they were there to do, didn’t get in their way or give them trivial tasks. Their codes of honor and respect gave Fledge an even more intense longing for their home, where the bears and wolves and ravens alike would teach them the intricacies of a warrior’s honor.
They fell back on the water, evening out so they could float on their back, eyes shut. The twittering of birds and soft sounds of the world waking up on a Spring morning settled deep in their heart, echoing faintly in their ears as they mulled over ever sound. They unintentionally compared it to the wildlife in Grizzleheim, yet did not find it lacking as they had when they had been kidnapped to Wizard City.
Here, it was not home.
It was different, Fledge decided, nodding to themself as they swam closer to the edge of this pond, crouching and then standing, shivering slightly.
Different, but not bad, not empty as other worlds seem to be.
As they got dressed again, making sure to slide their dreadlock’s beads so their hair dried properly, they stared down at their bag, making another decision. Their small fingers grabbed the thin paper of the shop bag, reaching inside and letting their fingers trail over what was inside.
One by one, they picked beads out, jade carved with turtles and bonsai trees, some the plain stone, others lined with silver, a trinket they spent far too much gold on, but considering it was Ravenwood Academy’s gold, they could live with it.
Fledge let themself fall back onto the grass once they were done, staring up at the early morning sky, and internally planned for the day, one not as stressful as what previous worlds had inflicted upon them.
They were ready to face it with far less hardship.
