With sweeping views of the Great Dividing Range to the north and the Nicholson River valley and Gippsland Lakes to the south it is perfectly positioned for your next getaway. The buildings are “earth shelter” construction, meaning they are constructed of concrete and are underground. This was part of the owners fire plan 16 years ago and are the only accommodation of this kind in Australia. Floor to ceiling double glazed windows project from the earth maintaining their own temperature and allowing for a peaceful silence. The roof is a garden and because of this the buildings are invisible when viewed on Google Earth. This beautiful property lost all of their summer trade and the township of Sarsfield is now known for all of the wrong reasons despite it central location to most of East Gippsland’s best attractions. Featuring cafes, services and businesses from local communities impacted by the fires, the campaign encourages the return of tourism and support for the long term economy of these areas as they try to rebuild. It also helps the rest of us discover the delights and new experiences of towns they may not have visited before.
