Hypocrisy of Quebec's English Education System
Just a little personal rant as a student: How are we expected to apply the knowledge we learn in school when everything from the way our schools are run, funded and standardized the exact opposite of everything we learn? Does it make sense that I'm taking a learning and memory psychology class that explicitly depicts the variety of different ways humans learn yet we insist on teaching only a certain way? Let's elaborate, if a large portion of young children and adults are prone to add and adhd , locking them in a room with 100s of students and a PowerPoint presentation for 3 hours doesn't seem ideal! How does it make sense that the government wants to stop funding any courses with less then 20 students? Studies have shown conclusive data towards smaller classrooms and better grades on tested materials? Alright, so money sucks and so does the age old system. Why is the standardized testing still held in such high regard when it comes to determining knowledge retention? We know for a fact that 90 percent of midterms and final exams given in cegeps and universities around quebec are standardized and non conclusive, unreliable and unfair ways of testing how well one knows certain materials. It seems to me that though we have attained so much knowledge and wisdom throughout the years in the are of education and learning we have yet to apply it constructively within our society. It's time for a change , question the authenticity of your education!

The English Montreal School Board (EMSB), emAPPetizer Inc. and Microsoft Canada jointly unveiled the newest generation of their hallmark mobile app Hall Monitor at a press conference last Tuesday at Carlyle Elementary School (109 Carlyle) in Town of Mount Royal.
