μίμησις mimesis, imitation: suggests creating a new text with the style of a particular author

hence, imitate, mime... all those words with 'mi' or 'mim' that refer to copying

ζῆλος zelos, emulation, rivalry: suggests that although an author has some positive qualities to be emulated, one should draw only those positive qualities from his writing

so zealous and jealous--they're etymologically related
