Text: I think I'm finally ready to let go of my "Not Your Princess" recording after a year of editing and re-mixing. Really enjoyed seeing how I grew throughout this experience as both a recording engineer and a musician! This January I'll be ready to release it quasi-officially! And as another exciting announcement, yesterday I submitted my final mix to the Electronic Musician Abbey Road competition (grand prize is a 3 track EP mastered for free at abbey road + 1 free abbey road studio waves plugin) But honestly I was just glad to have some sort of deadline and something exciting to work towards. HOW TO: Master Class: Layering Drum Samples

While creating kick samples,…we’ll name the attack sample the Thud and the low-end Boom.

Frequency conflicts and phase problems will appear, use EQ, filters, and flip polarity to make sure they aren’t out of phase… 

Shorten the tails to sound punchier.

Turning down the Boom sample pitch should help to work off its mid-range frequencies.

It’s useful to distort the whole group to pack it, or maybe to add more punch or personality.

Remember, if sharing or storing to libraries, to normalize the final group, this helps to compete with other sample libraries and it’s useful while using the sample in a different project.
