So I've been holding this back for a while, but here it goes: You are literally my favorite meta person in the Glee fandom. All of your posts and character insights are on point. Gah. *hides*

Oh my gosh. I keep grinning at my screen like an idiot and just…. Thank you. That was such a lovely message and getting it today, when I’ve had trouble getting words out and making coherent posts, makes it all the more lovely. Oh man, you just made my night.

This is great! very helpful. What is a glottal stop and melisma (isn’t that going through different notes or something?)? And what do you mean by phrasing?

A glottal stop is the sound that is produced by rapidly closing the vocal cords. The common example of the sound is the way someone from London might pronounce "butter" - "bu-uh." That space between the u's is the glottal stop.

Melisma is another term for a vocal run, if that term is more familiar to you.

For phrasing, listen to Chris sing in Downtown from 0:23 til 0:33 and compare it to Kevin at 1:17 to 1:27. Chris's lacks a sort of conversational stress (which he is doing intentionally to emulate the original song), while Kevin sounds like he's talking to you, if that makes sense.

You're welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed it and it didn't go on for too long. It was just so interesting listening to it - I think I told you the very first podcast done was "Be a Man" and that was one of my favorites. This one surpassed that because it took into account femininity as well as masculinity as well as gender non-cornforming and gender stereotypes. You all covered a lot of ground, and I loved every bit of it.
