Pregnant Catra has been an absolute delight today! If you're still taking prompts, I'd love to see a little something with pregnant Catra and some of the other Princesses.
Catra’s ears were still ringing when Scorpia scooped her up, holding her tight.
“You’re starting to show,” Adora had said the other night. “You can’t hide under my shirts forever.”
“At least for another month.”
And the monthly princess meeting was a few days later, so that seemed like the best time to announce it. Glimmer and Bow already knew, of course; there had been a devious shine in Glimmer’s eye as she had pointedly started the meeting with, “Does anyone have any news they want to share?”
Adora and Bow had watched her like overly eager puppies. Not exactly subtle.
Now everyone was screaming and babbling excitedly, and Scorpia was crushing Catra. “Can’t breathe,” she wheezed after a moment.
“Oh, sorry!” Scorpia set her down quickly, tears in her eyes. “How far along are you?”
“Do you know if it’s a boy or a girl?”
“Will they have cat ears?!”
Catra sunk back into her seat, casting a Look at Adora. This was why she had put off telling everyone. As soon as they knew, it became an entire Princess affair. She didn’t want that.
“Hey, remember that time you promised me your first born in return for what you did to Salineas?”
“Do you even want a baby?”
“If it’s a cute little fluffball, yeah. Duh.”
“It’s Catra’s cute little fluffball.”
“And Adora’s. That’s the worst combination.”
“Rude,” Adora huffed before raising her voice slightly. “Okay, hey, I know you’re all excited, but maybe don’t yell so much?”
They all knew Catra was far more private than they would’ve believed given her showboating during the war. But she had never wanted a spotlight. Yet another reason Adora thought she should’ve been the to carry the baby, she thought as she watched Catra slide down in her seat, arms crossed over her stomach. Not that Adora liked attention any more than Catra did, but she more or less knew how to handle it. Catra was more likely to throw Adora to the sharks than stick around and be at all associated with She-Ra’s world-saving actions.
Catra slid out of the meeting while everyone was talking. Melog peeked out from under her seat, then looked at Adora. That was her cue to follow. She found Catra a few doors down, in a room with the lights off and the curtains drawn shut, leaning over a table and letting out a shuddering breath.
“Yeah.” Catra sighed. “It’s just... a lot. They’re a lot.”
Adora crossed the room, sliding her arms around Catra from behind, hands coming to a rest on the barely noticeable baby bump. “They are. But they care.”
“Oh trust me, I don’t doubt that.” Catra snorted. “She-Ra’s baby? We’ll have the entire planet trying to knock down the doors. And probably several other planets.”
“Why did you want to carry if you already knew that? Obviously it wasn’t for the attention.”
“Because...” Catra made an irritated noise, shaking her head. “Because it’s my life and I don’t want to let anything or anyone else dictate how I live it. This is what I wanted. It doesn’t matter what other people think.”
Adora untensed slightly. She knew autonomy was important to Catra, even after so many years. Horde Prime had left his mark in more ways than just the bundle of faded scars on her neck.
“You’re right.” She kissed the scars gently, hugging Catra closer. “Wanna skip the rest of the meeting and take a nap?”
