let's play race with pete and vally
the funny thing to me about being someone who enjoys hc'ing "male" characters as transfeminine and also being somewhat well-read as a transfeminist is like. hm well yes I do enjoy doing this for fun and personal pleasure and good vibes. But now let's discuss the Evidence™.
in ender’s shadow, they write ender like he’s going to die before he can save humanity and i think this take is like . the most apparent if u read it before eg. bro is a walking death flag he’s this leader held up so high by everyone but he’s ridiculously mentally tortured underneath everything and all bean thinks about is being his second, being his backup, being there in case What The Adults Almost Seem To Be Planning For happens. and then you read enders game and you realize no those aren’t death flags, but he’s definitely ill in the head and it’s worse for him to keep him alive and tortured so that’s what the story will do.
and that’s why faline and i are actually doing the honorable thing and killing him now
Here’s an acrylic painting based off the Ender’s Game books (I haven’t seen the movies at all, so that’s why the designs probably look different since it’s just my brain’s version). The book was honestly so beautiful and I’m already moved onto Speaker for the Dead! The person on his left is Napoleon and the person on his right is Alexander the Great. Since there’s numerous comparisons between them and Ender throughout the book, I decided to paint him between, standing among them. And in the background…🥲
TRANSFEM HEADCANON BRACKET: FIRST ROUNDS
WHICH CHARACTER WOULD YOU BE MORE LIKELY TO HEADCANON AS TRANSFEM?
MILES “TAILS” PROWER [Sonic the Hedgehog]
ENDER WIGGIN [Ender's Game]
TAILS PROPAGANDA
The thought of Sonic and company being super supportive to an out Tails as she explores her identity makes me tear up
ENDER PROPAGANDA
Conceived of as the perfectly balanced tool for winning a war with an alien race, but going on to be a herald for peace and unity after committing some heinous acts. He tends to get a long a LOT more with his gentle sister than his shitty brother. Also, crucially, the writer of Ender’s Game hates the gays, so this would be funny
i read the second Enderverse book for a composition class several years ago, and i honestly have forgotten much of it. i'm just now reading Hainish Novels & Stories, Volume One by Ursula K Le Guin, and i'm starting to think that Orson Scott Card was just a huge copycat?
so many concepts that i remember existing in the Enderverse are in these books. i thought maybe this was a Tolkien situation, where one author has ideas so revolutionary that they become part of the genre, but it doesn't seem as cut-and-dry as that. one of the things i looked up was the term 'ansible'. i found that it was used first by Le Guin in 1966, then nothing, until Card uses it in 1985. after that, other authors begin to use it, but Card is very much the first person to take the term from Le Guin. so... what gives? is this a known issue? is this a non issue?
i was looking at his wikipedia, which lists his inspirations, and Le Guin isn't even mentioned, despite the fact that he clearly uses terms that didn't seem to exist before her.
