Midnight Rescue!

Hi readers! Today I want to introduce you all to one of the rescues I volunteer for and a recent event that happened to me.

I have been volunteering at Priceless Pets Rescue for about five years now. I’m proud to say that they have boomed. They now are going to be opening up their third location. The rescue was founded on December 18, 2012. In those five years they have adopted out over 10,000 animals to residents of southern California. They have been featured in many newspaper articles and have had their own episode on the show, “Save our Shelter.” The rescue was founded by Lisa Price (Priceless Pets...haha get it?). The rescue came to be when Lisa and her best friend worked in real estate. They were heartbroken when they would visit houses that had been foreclosed and the owners had left their animals there. So, they would take all the animals home and they started a rescue out of their homes and they were eventually able to buy their first facility which is in Chino Hills, California.

That is enough of the back story… it’s time for me to tell everyone about what happened this week.

At 1am Tuesday night, the Priceless Pets van showed up at their CHino Hills location accompanied by many volunteers. The van had just arrived from Tennessee with 62 beagles. These poor animals had been locked up in crates in Tennessee which seemed to be some type of puppy mill (pictures below).While preparing for their arrival volunteers set over 50 bowls of food and water in the parking lot so that upon arrival each animal has immediate access to food and water. Before going inside the facility. They were also setting up kennels and medicines that could be needed. Once the van arrived, an extensive process began. A volunteer would be responsible for one dog at a time and they would unload each one, one by one. After they went to the bathroom and recieved food and water. They went inside to begin the rest of the process. They would first get a bath, and pull off any ticks and mites during this period, then they would be dried off. Next, they were given a flea treatment, given shots, and tested for heartworm. After that, the volunteer would take the dog on a walk and they would finally place the dogs in the kennels depending on if they have heartworm or not. This continued for 61 more dogs. My family had gone to pick up two of the dogs to foster that next morning around 9am and the volunteers were still testing, walking, and bathing the dogs.

We took two girls, their names are Nashville and Joelocco. Nashville is possibly pregnant and has a severe ear infection while Joelocco has a mammary tumor and heartworm. It is unbelievable how sweet these girls are considering the conditions they lived in. They were surviving together in rotting wooden crates, dirty and dying, in the forests of Tennessee. Thanks to this rescue, they were saved.

So, I have a pet of the week for everyone here today. Her name is Abbie. She is a Yorkshire Terrier (Yorkie). She is a senior, so she is looking for somebody to cuddle up with for the next few years. Message me for more details.

Sweet Sherman! He has been super spoiled all night. He has been snuggled and kept comfy! 💜 He started red light therapy on his back today. It seemed to really relax him as he didn't even try to move and fell right to sleep in the process!
