ENG 112 - Assignment #5

Notebook computers definitely will bring a lot of benefits to students and our environment.  If all students own laptop or tablet, they can change our physical textbooks to digital books.  However, my argument is who is going to produce notebook computers with an acceptable price that each student can buy one.  On the recent market, people have to pay at least four hundred dollar for a medium rank laptop or tablet.  This price can be low for some people, but it is also going to be too high for the others.  The question is if they can produce a good product with a reasonable price.  It can be some special programs that allow students buy notebook computers by payments or education discount price.  In fact, most of products are produced with a low cost, but they are always sold at a high price.  The reason is because of the name of production.  The more well known the production is, the more expensive the products are.  In the market, they do have a lot of products with a wide range of price, but we do not really know about their quality.  I only trust on prestige names, and of course, their products will not at a low price. 

Some people say that they like to hold a physical book to read more than a machine.  However, that habit can affect to our environment.  To produce papers, they have to cut down trees.  Our environment is changing everyday because human is devastating the earth by exploiting nature.  We should use our natural resources logically.  Therefore, notebook computers have brightness adjust option that allows us to read in any level of darkness.

ENG 112 - ASSIGNMENT 4

After few years in college, I have some little experiences of writing an essay for myself.  In the very first moment, I usually write about what I like.  However, in the writing process, I realized that the topics which I picked are lack of support, interesting to myself but not to others, very wide, or very narrow, etc.  Now, I know that I should really pay attention to write down an outline.  First, I will pick some topics that pop up in my mind and very write down all the main ideas to support for my thesis statement.  I will analyze the topic and the main ideas are wide enough to write about.  If the topic and main ideas are too narrow, I will not have too many things to write.  For every main ideas, I have to prepare enough strong and interesting supporting details.  

My topic is "Should student's textbooks be replaced by notebook computers?".  I got my iPad two years ago, and I had to say that I love it a lot.  It is such a huge amazing product of technology.  Before I had it, I could not image how convenient it is.  From my interesting experience with my iPad, I totally agree with that replacement.  My thesis statement is going to be "There are some positive points that notebook computer can replace student's textbook: convenient, economic spending, and to reduce using paper to save our environment".       

So far I love this topic and I also have enough ideas to develop my essay.  First, I will analyze how effective the notebook is to student.  It is comfortable to carry out, easy to organize our files, simple to look up information, etc. Secondly, I will talk about the price's comparison comparison.  When we buy a textbook, we pay for the materials ( papers, ink, labor, etc ) and the copyright.  When we buy a online book, we pay for the copy right only. Eventually, I emphasize to saving papers is saving our environment. 

I think with all of these supports, I will keep this topic.
