Rs 100 crore engine less Train 18 to be unveiled today

Indian Railways is good to go to reveal its home built semi-fast train for between city travel Codenamed Train 18 on October 29.

"We are planning to uncover the train on Oct 29," ICF General Manager S.Mani told news office IANS. He said the train will perform trials in two/three months for around two months and on good outcomes, would be accepted for traveler service. Self propelled Train 18 (depicting the year it is being manufactured), would run at a speed of 160 kmph. It will replace Shatabdi Express trains on the Indian Railways network. Train 18, a 100 percent 'Make in India' project will be manufactured at ICF (Integral Coach Factory) in Chennai. The Rs 100 crore engine less Train 18 will have a stainless steel car body with LHB as the base plan. The completely air conditioned train will have 16 seat car type coaches out of which two will be official seat cars and 14 non-executives seat cars. The official seat can situate 56 travelers, while the non executive seats will have the capacity to oblige 78 passengers. Read the full article
