It always makes me sad when people assume that James II is like a clone of his namesakes…he’s his own dude. It makes Lily sad nobody takes her brother seriously.
SAME LIKE. he ( or at least my version of him ) definitely has some similarities to them; he’s very good at transfiguration and he likes joking around, he likes quidditch, he’s intelligent. james shares all of those traits and sirius shares most of them ( if not the quidditch one; that’s up to personal portrayal tbh ). but he’s not a bully ( which, as much as i love james, he canonically is; i believe he and snape were equals and that was certainly not one-sided antagonizing, myself, but he was stated to have picked on younger kids, even though he grew out of it eventually ); james sirius would call people out for picking on others tbh. honestly, if i had to pick two canon characters that my version is most similar to, it’d be ginny and remus, and even then that’s not perfect.
