fear has him slamming against the lid of the coffin he’s been entombed in. even when his hands shake and ache he keeps pounding. steven’s never done well with small spaces and now as the memories of being shot dance in the forefront of his mind he just wants OUT. his fight or flight response is screaming at him to get out. “let me out. FUCK, PLEASE LET ME OUT!” He’s going to pass out from how hard he’s hyperventilating before someone removes the lid and he tumbles out to get as far away from it as possible. a sarcophagus. of fucking course it was a sarcophagus! finally his eyes look up into...his own?

At the question, Camille carefully turned to look at him. Staring him down, studying him for a moment before replying. “We have a contract. So until the time comes where I tell you that you’re done, I. own. you. Along with all those fancy little toys you like to use. Understood?” She hated being questioned, and she hated things being taken from her even more. Even if she technically had no proper claim over them.

“Of course. It couldn’t just be a simple grab and go, could it?” Layla was more annoyed than anything, but she forced herself not to look back. She trusted Marc’s senses and judgement after all. Stealing artifacts was what she did, so she was pretty damn good at it. Though, that didn’t mean every job didn’t come with its own set of hiccups and problems. “I doubt splitting up will do us any good, so what’s the play here?”

“what’s all the FUSS about?! you didn’t buy me any food! i see chicken nuggets, steak and fish but no vegetables, no oatmeal and certainly no DATES. you know how i feel about my morning date intake!” they’re still working all this out regarding living with each other and steven assumes that marc simply forgot that he’s buying for two now and one of them DOESN’T EAT ANYTHING FROM AN ANIMAL. “so now i gotta go out and possibly miss a good episode of judge judy because if i don’t i’ll either have to starve or have something i don’t want to eat. do you want anything while we’re out?”

“I’m sorry I wasn’t a great dad,” Elias began softly. “You deserve a dad that isn’t a complete coward, and I hate that I was never that for you. I’m so sorry.” He may not have hit Marc, but he definitely didn’t help to try and stop Wendy. Not really. Sure, he tried his best to make the times without Wendy as nice and memorable as possible. Still, that wasn’t the same as protecting his son.
