What Comes After Tag Management? Use Metrics That Matter to Make Sense of Data
Tag management (TMS) has emerged as one of the most important systems to manage data, big and small. That’s because it collects data now scattered across multiple silos and behind the firewalls of vendors. Not only that, it can connect data back to individual consumers, providing a record of what they did, where and when. But once you have the TMS data, and combine with other relevant data sources, what do you do with it all? Almost everything is measureable today. But that doesn’t mean it’s meaningful. Gaining insights from the volume, velocity of variety of data generated in today’s digital world requires analytical tools and insight into the metrics that matter. In fact, knowing the metrics that matter is a critical step in making use of data to drive better marketing decisions.

Ensighten, a leader in the evolving tag management industry, announced that it had acquired London-based TagMan, the pioneer in tag management, while also landing Series B funding of $40 million. Tealium, another tag management leader and innovator, won the Digital Analytics Association’s award for New Technology of the Year with its AudienceStream program, “a real-time audience discovery and digital data distribution platform.”

More Control over Cookies
“Do Not Track” consumer requests are rarely followed by advertising companies or enforced by the FTC, so Ensighten is putting the control in someone else’s hands: website owners’.
Their new software will help the site owners to block companies that disregard "Do Not Follow" requests and gain more control over tracking cookies, which is much needed since a great deal of tracking tools that did not get the owner's original approval are installed on websites. More control over tracking equals more control over your privacy (and less profit off of your data for the tracking companies).
