What aspects of Dionysus do you feel you see most often? Or what ways have they changed for you over the years?
oh that's nice to think about.
I think I have maybe changed more than they have? like my approach to them. I was highly intimidated in the beginning. initially I was very like, capitalizing letters, Lord this and that, and they were like. why are you doing this. so now that level of formality is mostly a thing of the past.
the aspect I interact with the most in a quiet way is a fairly elemental, non-verbal sense of Dionysos, in the waking of the wildlife, in the cold full moon, in the animation of a party full of friends with drinks in their hands, in the electric buzz that rattles in my lower lumbar when I prepare to get onstage or the flow state of mixing one song into another and feeling the crowd go ecstatic when I DJ. Nyktelios, night-stalker, accompanies me out dancing, and rides my pulse when the bassline takes me. mostly I feel him, rather than hear him, in those contexts.
in terms of channeling and more literally interacting/speaking, he presents by default with me with a very loving but no-bullshit sort of elder-faggot auntie vibe, which I would call Pseudanor, false-man. I perceive that they can choose how they present to their followers, and that it is a tactical decision.
I think the aspect I see the next most often would be the relatively aggressive and energetic form in which they usually present when channeled alongside Agdistis. sometimes this aspect is sorroful, sometimes it is cocky and erotic, but the energy tends to meet Agdistis where they're at. I suspect this form is a younger Dionysos, before their Olympian days, since that is when they would have interacted with Agdistis according to the myths. and they don't seem to have the Widsom Of Age, or the gravity of other aspects, per se.
and in deepening my/our Anthesteria observation, incorporating the hieros gamos, @flamingkorybante and I have encountered a very old aspect, a sacrificial king we call Dionysos Rex, or even Di-wo-nu-so from the Linear B enscription, which is much less human-like than the others.
thank you for this lovely ask 🥰
