      ... SOUND,                 [  music — ?  ]        STATIC .  — deafening ,                            ringing   in his  ears ...

                 lips pursed into a pout, her bright blue eyes jumped nervously from the large box overhead to the approaching stranger about to pass her by. 

                   “  um, can you help me reach that ... ?  “

               “ nee, len -- !  come here, quick ! “

  &&.  just a little further-- !                      her eyes were alight with fixation upon the object of focus only centimeters from the tips of her delicate fingers, arms outstretched to their furthest point of reach. what lay floating in the water was none other than a light wool beret, its stark-white color contrasting greatly with river’s dark blue tinge-- ( blown without warning off her head and into the water as she’d been crossing the wooden bridge before her ). she hesitated briefly, free hand now gripping a small boulder for support, but as rin reached out once more, the rock shifted, coming loose from its nestled position in the soil and tumbling down at her side as she slipped into the water with a yelp.
